Tokyo ∣Setagaya Hachiman Shrine ∣Heian Period Sumo Holy Land
Setagaya Hachimangu Shrine has a long history.
Since 1546, it has been continuously rebuilt and expanded to its current size.
In Setagaya Hachimangu Shrine,
in addition to the main shrine, there are three other shrines:
Itsukushima Shrine (the last shrine of Setagaya Hachimangu Shrine)
Kora Shrine (to ward off disasters and prolong life)
Setagaya Shokonsha Shrine (to commemorate the victims of the Russo-Japanese War)

This is also a holy place for sumo wrestling.
Since the middle of the Heian period, sumo wrestling has been performed, and the results of sumo wrestling are used as a ritual to pray for a good harvest, and to predict a good harvest.

Enter through the large colored torii gate at the main gate,
and you will see another stone torii gate.
Climb the stone steps behind the stone torii gate,
and on the right is the sumo ring/sumo wrestling ring.
The hand-water house on the left is also very special.
The flowers offered will be directly contributed here.
There will be different flower themes depending on the season.
⋯⋯⋯⋯
This is one of the few shrines that provides "return of amulets".
Old shrine notes, amulets, lucky arrows, etc.
can be packed and placed in the "Koza Naso" on the right side of the main hall.
The shrine will burn them into ashes at a fixed time.
Symbol: Return the divine power obtained to the gods.

Tips:
The shrine office is not inside the shrine, but on the other side of the road.
If you want to buy Goumi/Ema/Goshuin,
you need to go to the other side of the road (opposite the shrine) first!
