Xuzhou, a summer retreat treasure, keeps you cool all summer long!
🌞Xuzhou Summer Retreat Travel Guide🌞
🌊Yunlong Lake Scenic Area
The top choice for a summer retreat in Xuzhou, located in the southern part of the city, with beautiful lake and mountain views, it is the backyard of the people of Xuzhou.
In the summer evening, walking by the lake, the breeze comes gently, and the heat dissipates.
🏞Quanshan Forest Park
The forest coverage is extremely high, with lush trees, it is the 'green lung' of Xuzhou city area.
🏰Xuzhou Museum
An excellent place to understand the history and culture of Xuzhou, with a rich collection of exhibits, especially the Han culture exhibits.
Besides touring, you can also taste Xuzhou's special snacks on Hubu Mountain Old Street next to the museum.
🏖Dalong Lake
Located in the new city area, with a wide lake surface surrounded by green trees, it is a good place to cool off in summer.
There is also the Moon Bay Colorful Water Park by the lake, which is an excellent choice for family fun.
🏞Maling Mountain Scenic Spot
Located in the southern suburbs of Xinyi City, Xuzhou, it is mainly low hills and beautiful scenery.
There is also the Subei Battle Monument Pavilion on the mountain, where you can enjoy the scenery and remember history.

Are you sure you don't want to come for a super energy-saving 2-day tour of Xuzhou this summer?
1️⃣DAY1: Huilongwo - Hubu Mountain - Cui Daoguang's Former Residence - Xima Platform - Lotus Well/Fengchu Street
2️⃣DAY2: Xuzhou Museum - Yunlong Mountain - Jinshan Park - Xiaonan Lake - Submerged Corridor
📍Huilongwo: As a place that locals in Xuzhou love to visit all year round, Huilongwo is always fun! It's great for taking photos, and there are many cultural and creative shops, popular internet spots, and trendy stores. If it gets too hot, you can even go to a bookstore to cool off! 🏖
📍Hubu Mountain: Speaking of Hubu Mountain district, the night market is really fun, 🙋🏻♀️ but you can also go up the slope from Park Alley and pass by the Cui Family Courtyard and Li Family Mansion, which are full of historical charm from the ancient Ming and Qing dynasties! 💓
📍Cui Daoguang's Former Residence: As a grand official residence complex in the Hubu Mountain area 📸, during the Qing Dynasty's Daoguang era, a descendant of the Cui family, Cui Daoguang, passed the imperial examination and entered the Hanlin Academy. He was ordered to expand the residence, and since then, the Cui Family Courtyard has been known as the Cui Hanlin Mansion 💯
📍Xima Platform: Xima Platform is one of the oldest existing relics in Xuzhou‼️ After Xiang Yu destroyed the Qin Dynasty, he proclaimed himself the 'Overlord of Western Chu' and made Pengcheng his capital. On the southern hill of the city, he built a high platform to watch horse plays, hence the name Xima Platform 👏🏻
✅Lotus Well/Fengchu Street: If you want to see the lively local life of Xuzhou 🔥, these two places are definitely the right choice! There's a plethora of authentic food to satisfy your stomach 🍜
📍Xuzhou Museum: On the second day, you can start by visiting the Xuzhou Museum to appreciate the culture of the Han Dynasty. The Qianlong Imperial Palace next door is a great spot for photos!
📍Yunlong Mountain: 'A mountain is not necessarily renowned for its height; it's the presence of immortals that gives it spirit' ⛰ Although Yunlong Mountain doesn't have 'immortals', it has a large number of cultural relics! And there are many great spots for taking photos 📷
📍Jinshan Park: The popular Metasequoia trees of Yunlong Lake are hidden here‼️
📍Xiaonan Lake: Although Xiaonan Lake is also part of Yunlong Lake, it's more exquisite 💓. On the way to Xiaonan Lake, you'll pass various 'bridges' that have a strong Jiangnan charm, making it a great place for photography 📸
📍Submerged Corridor: If you want to go boating 🛶, you can head straight to the Submerged Corridor pier. Boating from here allows you to see the lotus flowers up close, which is super comfortable 💕
🙋🏻♀️Take advantage of the summer before it ends, quickly like and save this post, and call your travel buddies to come to Xuzhou! 🚄

Xuzhou Museum, the museum at our doorstep
Xuzhou Museum is located at the northern foot of Yunlong Mountain, on the former site of the imperial palace used by Emperor Qianlong during his southern tour in 1757. To the southwest of the museum are the relics of a Western Han quarry, to the southeast are the Qianlong imperial palace and the Stele Garden, and to the north is the Eastern Han Tushan Tomb. The museum is the core, and it is said that 'to see the culture of the Han Dynasty, one must visit Xuzhou.' The cultural relics unearthed from various Han tombs in Xuzhou are collected in the Xuzhou Museum. Just being able to see the jade garments with gold, silver, and copper threads in one visit can thrill any cultural relic enthusiast. The 'Iron Horses and Bronze Spears' exhibition hall on the first floor displays various ancient weapons; in the Deng Yongqing Collection of Calligraphy and Painting, one can see the ink treasures of masters such as Bada Shanren (Zhu Da), Qi Baishi, and Xu Beihong. The 'Heavenly Craftsmanship in Han Jade' exhibition hall on the second floor is worth a visit, where the jade garment with gold threads unearthed from the Lion Mountain Chu King's Tomb is displayed as the 'treasure of the museum.' Of course, some visitors find the adjacent jade-inlaid lacquer coffin even more impressive due to its massive size, which also comes from the Lion Mountain Chu King's Tomb. The silver and copper-threaded jade garments are also in this exhibition hall. The 'Han Dynasty Treasures' on the second floor features a silver seal with a turtle knob from the Guishan Han Tomb, which has an interesting story; it was retrieved from a local youth and helped identify the owner of the Guishan Han Tomb as Liu Zhu. The 'Splendid Figurines' exhibition hall on the third floor displays pottery figurines from the Han to Tang dynasties.

No, it's true! There are indeed obscure attractions that 75% of Xuzhou residents don't know about
No, it's true! There are indeed obscure attractions that 75% of Xuzhou residents don't know about.
The Qianlong Imperial Palace—giving people in Xuzhou, located in northern Jiangsu, a rare taste of the southern Jiangnan charm.
Gray bricks, red walls, green tiles, it's really hin suitable for photography and even encountered three couples taking wedding photos. The new Chinese style really has an atmospheric feel! The solemnity of the red walls and the gentle grace of the silk-like mist! Although it's small in size, it's very worth visiting.

😄 Coming from the museum or Hubu Mountain, go up the mountain from the north gate
The square in front of the museum has been renovated, and the north gate of Yunlong Mountain is now open, which leads directly to the top of Yijie Mountain, passing through the stone archway, Qu Gang jumping fish, Xi Yu Pavilion, Zhang Shanren's former residence, and Dashi Rock Temple. Then keep heading south to the observation deck.
😄 Going up the mountain from Xinghua Zen Temple
Xinghua Zen Temple is equivalent to the east gate, where you can visit the temple and offer incense. The path leads up the mountain, and the exit is at the top of Yijie Mountain, Fanghe Pavilion, Zhang Shanren's former residence, and then turn left all the way south to the observation deck.
😄 Going up the mountain from the west gate, heading straight to the observation deck
If you want to go directly to the observation deck, it takes about ten minutes to reach it from the west gate entrance, and about ten minutes to go down the mountain. The west gate is also the closest entrance to Yunlong Lake and Marriott.
😄 Cable car
There are two cable car boarding points, east and west. The west side is close to Yunlong Lake, and the cable car scenery is also different. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery while going up the mountain. In addition, Yunlong Mountain has a total of 9 sections, and each section of the mountain has different entrances to go up the mountain, so you can choose the nearest one.
Main attractions of Yunlong Mountain: observation deck, Xinghua Zen Temple, Dashi Rock Temple, Zhang Shanren's former residence, Han Dynasty Relief Stone Art Museum, Yunlong Academy, etc.
😄 Yunlong Lake → Yunlong Mountain Cableway → Xuzhou Museum → Hui Long Nest → Hubu Mountain → Xi Ma Tai → 1818 Night Market → Bao Lian Temple
😄 Yunlong Lake is really beautiful. It's very pleasant to walk by the lake, feel the breeze, and watch the sunset. At sunset, the entire lake is shimmering, and the distant mountains stretch on endlessly. Watching the sun slowly set among the mountains, the whole scene is like a huge landscape painting.
😄 Bao Lian Temple is also very worth visiting. The architecture is grand and atmospheric, and it's also very photogenic.

Reverse Travel in Xuzhou - 2
🥸 'Xuzhou Museum' (advance reservation required) The area around the museum is the 'Qianlong Imperial Palace' (free of charge). Directly opposite the museum is the entrance to 'Yunlong Mountain'
It takes about 1h to walk from the entrance to the viewing platform, with stops along the way (the Yunlong Mountain cable car is not long!! Ride selectively). It is recommended to exit from the west gate when descending the mountain
🥸 'Yunlong Lake' Recommended cycling route for a leisurely tour:
East Lake Road to Jinshan Park, then Lake Center Road
After dinner, you can stroll around Suning or Wenmiao
🥸 Recommended for dinner: Xuzhou barbecue
Any barbecue restaurant with small tables at the entrance and full of people is fine
🥸 For breakfast, go to Hubu Mountain for Ma Shi Street sha soup sha soup (with egg) + eight-section youtiao
Don't eat too much, have lunch early, otherwise, you'll have to queue for a long time
Hubu Mountain
Antique market
Food recommendations
🥸 Breakfast: It's suggested to try the Ma Shi Street sa soup, seriously there are so many options, remember to bring an egg. When I went there, it was so crowded that I chose a set meal, which included a little bit of everything, and I thought it was quite good and not too expensive. The key point is that the first floor was too crowded, really no place to sit. After eating, you can take a walk nearby, opposite is an ancient building where you can digest your meal.
🥸 Lunch: It's suggested that everyone could try the local pot chicken
🥸 Dinner: You can wait until later in the evening to go to Fuguo Street for snacks. Xuzhou is especially lively at night. You can go for a Yunlong tea. Fuguo Street is full of eateries, and the 1818 Food Plaza is also very close, about a 5-minute walk. These two places are great for wandering, eating, and drinking.

Xuzhou 48-Hour Gourmet Travel Check-in Guide
Traveling to Xuzhou from Beijing and Shanghai, the high-speed train takes only a minimum of 2.5 hours, making it suitable for weekend trips. Most attractions in Xuzhou do not charge an entrance fee, and there is a 2000-year-old barbecue culture, with the average cost per person in restaurants rarely exceeding 70 yuan. Many people have already regarded it as a budget travel destination, but it has not yet become as popular as Harbin or Tianshui.
Must-visit spot 1: Guishan Han Tomb, the most magnificent discovered among the tombs of the kings of Chu, with a total of 15 tomb chambers and an area of over 700 square meters, almost hollowing out the entire mountain. The ticket price of 80 yuan is not cheap. The scenic area also includes two additional attractions, the Imperial Edict Museum and the Dianshi Garden, which houses a large collection of stone carvings and steles. Although the collections are decent, there is a suspicion of padding.
Must-visit spot 2: Han Dynasty Relief Stone Art Gallery, free of charge. It displays nearly 600 pieces of Han Dynasty relief stone masterpieces, recreating various aspects of life during the Han Dynasty, including cattle farming, weaving, chariot travel, feasting and drinking, music and dance, myths and legends, etc., known as the 'Epic on Stone'. If time is limited, you can choose to only visit the newly built South Hall.
Must-visit spot 3: Xuzhou Museum, free of charge. Hundreds of Han tombs are scattered around Xuzhou, and the unearthed artifacts such as gold-threaded, silver-threaded, and copper-threaded jade garments, as well as jade dragons, pottery figurines, and lacquer coffins inlaid with jade, are all on display here. As a must-visit for tourists, it is best to make a reservation in advance to ensure entry on the day.
Other attractions are optional, including: Baolian Temple near Xuzhou East Station, built in 2009, where the internet-famous pastries need to be purchased early in the morning and are quickly sold out after lunch, free admission; Xima Terrace, newly built in 1985, where the exhibition hall is used to tell the story of Xiang Yu from birth to defeat in battle, free of charge; Hubu Mountain under Xima Terrace, where several famous residences are located, which compared to the thousands of ancient streets across the country, are not particularly distinctive, free of charge; Huilongwo next to Hubu Mountain subway station, which was once known for its low-lying terrain and difficulty in draining rainwater, has now become a commercial street constructed with antique buildings, free of charge.
Regarding Han tombs, Shizishan Han Tomb (also known as Han Culture Scenic Area), Beidongshan Han Tomb Exhibition Hall (to be opened in 2024), and Baiji Han Tomb are also quite famous and worth considering.
Eating in Xuzhou: Most barbecue restaurants open after 4 p.m. and close around 1 or 2 a.m. The barbecue restaurant Lvdi Sanzhiyang in the city center is particularly popular, with many people still waiting for a table even after 11 p.m. If you really want to try the barbecue, it is recommended to go when they open in the afternoon or to visit shops that are not in the city center. If you go during meal times, be prepared to queue for two hours.
Xuzhou has several food streets, including the 1818 Night Market, Fuguo Street, and Fengchu Street. Among them, Fengchu Street offers the best experience, with shops selling shaved ice, Bazirou (pork belly), rice noodles, steak, chicken strips, etc., all crammed into a short street, with waiting times not being exaggerated.
If you want to eat Xuzhou cuisine, you should look for restaurants that serve dishes like clay pot chicken and garlic burst fish. The differences between those old restaurants that have been open for decades are not significant. If any internet-famous restaurant requires waiting for more than an hour, I would suggest checking out other shops.
For breakfast, you can consider the time-honored brand Lianglai Feng's beef potstickers, pan-fried buns, and spicy soup with egg.

Xuzhou City Museum. The museum is a local comprehensive museum established by the People's Government of Xuzhou City on the site of the old palace where Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty made his southern tour. Built in 1959, located at the foot of Yunlong Mountain, it has been expanded three times and consists of four exhibition areas: the main exhibition building, the Tushan East Han Pengcheng King's Tomb, the Han Dynasty quarry site, and the Qianlong Palace and Stele Garden.
