In Wuding, Chuxiong, Yunnan, there is a mountain shaped like a crouching lion, known as Lion Mountain. It may not be as famous as the Five Great Mountains, but it stands proudly in the heart of central Yunnan as the "Number One Mountain in the Southwest," weaving a natural green barrier with its 90% forest coverage. Deep within this lush sea of trees lies a homestay called "Mo Shang Yun Lai," like a slow poem written for the wilderness, waiting for every soul longing to escape the hustle and bustle. The name "Mo Shang Yun Lai" carries its own poetic charm. It is understated and quiet, nestled peacefully beside the entrance to the Lion Mountain Scenic Area, neighboring the Zhengxu Temple and accompanied by thousand-year-old stone steps. Since its renovation in 2019, it has become an ideal place for travelers to "live within the scenery." Each of the 27 guest rooms features a simple and elegant design that brings nature indoors. The oversized floor-to-ceiling windows act as its eyes, allowing sunlight, breezes, and greenery to pour in without reservation. In the morning, wake up to the crisp chirping of birds in the forest; open the window, and the clouds and mist seem close enough to touch. At night, with the galaxy hanging low, drift off to sleep cradled by the mountain breeze, making even your breathing feel light. This is more than just a place to stay; it is a return to a certain way of life. The homestay features an open-air tea bar, a mini-golf course, an outdoor cinema, and karaoke, satisfying all your fantasies about mountain leisure. The most captivating feature is the forest rooftop terrace—surrounded by lush woods and flowers, and fully equipped with tables, chairs, and sofas. In the afternoon, order a coffee, sit on the terrace, watch the clouds roll by, and listen to the wind passing through the treetops. Time seems to stretch, slowing down in a way that brings peace of mind. During the rainy season, as thin mist drifts across the valley and red walls and flying eaves hide within the greenery, the atmosphere is truly immersive. The four seasons of Lion Mountain each have their own charm. In spring, over 40,000 peonies bloom in competition, with nine major color series and over 120 varieties, spreading out into a magnificent tide of flowers. The exclamation "Why go to Luoyang to admire flowers?" is the most authentic description of this place. In summer, with an average temperature of only 20°C, it is an excellent summer retreat. You can hike in the forest oxygen bar, walk along the thousand-year-old stone steps through the valley, or go boating on Pingding Jade Lake, experiencing the feeling of "traveling within a painting." In autumn, over 20,000 pots of chrysanthemums bloom, with eight major color series and over 130 varieties, dyeing the wilderness in golden and brilliant hues. In winter, though there are no flowers, there is tranquility and warmth; the mellow aroma of wild boar ham and the delicious taste of Wuding Zhuang chicken are enough to heal all fatigue. "Mo Shang Yun Lai" offers more than just accommodation; it provides a mountain living experience where you can "build a hut in the human realm, yet hear no noise of carriages and horses." It does not pursue luxury, but shows care in every detail: the rooms are well-equipped, the amenities are high-quality, and breakfast is made to order with a rich, nutritious balance. The front desk service is warm and thoughtful, even turning on the air conditioning and preparing electric blankets for guests in advance, just so that you, having traveled from afar, can shed your fatigue the moment you step through the door. If you are tired of the crowding and noise of the city, why not come to Lion Mountain and stay at "Mo Shang Yun Lai"? Here, you can do nothing at all, just quietly watch the clouds, listen to the wind, sip tea, and daydream. Let the fresh breeze of the mountains blow away the dust in your heart; let the chirping of birds in the forest awaken your dormant senses. With flowers blooming on the path and clouds and wind arriving, this place is the destination for your soul.

There is no need to travel far; this mountain retreat is a rare wellness sanctuary in central Yunnan, perfect for a solo meditative stay or a mountain gathering with friends, family, or colleagues. The temple's Zen atmosphere resonates with the hotel's own elegant charm; there is no need to search for peace—it is found in every breath. A visit in autumn is most captivating for the chrysanthemums that blanket the mountains. Each bloom unfurls in the autumn breeze, releasing a subtle, refreshing fragrance. Stroll along the mountain boardwalk to admire the flowers while gazing out at the rolling peaks. If you rise early, you might encounter Lion Mountain's unique sunrise over a sea of clouds. As the sky begins to brighten, the distant mountains remain veiled in mist. As the sun slowly rises, golden light pierces the clouds, and waves of mist surge through the valley in a constantly changing display—a scene straight out of a poem. At dusk, the setting sun gilds the peaks in warm orange, the distant mountains soften, and twilight slowly envelops the forest. Here, you can quietly take in the romance of the day from dawn to dusk. As a destination for a forest wellness stay, Moshang Yunlai's guest rooms balance comfort with Zen. Large floor-to-ceiling windows bring the forest scenery indoors; lying in bed, you can see the branches and drifting clouds just by looking up. The bedding is soft and clean, shielding you from the noise of the outside world. Fall asleep to the sound of insects and the mountain breeze, and enjoy a restful night's sleep nourished by abundant negative oxygen ions—a level of rejuvenation hard to find in the city. The hotel's public spaces are diverse and inviting. The tea room is a favorite among guests; in your leisure time, brew a pot of mountain tea, sit quietly, and sip, leaving work worries behind to simply listen to the pine breeze. If you are traveling as a team, this is also an ideal spot for a quiet team-building retreat. The on-site conference room is available for seminars and discussions, while the evening terrace is perfect for a small barbecue gathering. Put down your screens and reports, sit together, chat, and gaze at the layered distant mountains, drawing closer to one another amidst nature. It is also perfect for family trips: seniors can enjoy slow walks in the forest for wellness, while children can chase butterflies and watch birds. Everyone can find their own rhythm of relaxation. Breakfast is a gentle start to your mountain stay, featuring locally sourced ingredients that are both light and hearty. Hot porridge, pastries, and wild vegetable side dishes—simple yet prepared with care—let you taste the authentic flavors of the land. The hotel staff are warm and attentive, avoiding formulaic pleasantries. They are as thoughtful as old friends in the mountains, remembering guests' needs and adding a touch of warmth to your stay. As the seasons turn, the scenery of Lion Mountain changes. Spring brings blooming peonies, summer offers a cool forest, autumn fills the paths with the scent of chrysanthemums, and winter often reveals a sea of clouds. Moshang Yunlai does not strive for artificial excitement; it simply guards the peace and tranquility of this forest. Here, time is no longer fragmented by an itinerary. You can do nothing but sit on the terrace and watch the clouds, or you can hike, visit ancient temples, and enjoy the autumn flowers. Many who come here seek more than just the scenery—they seek a time for introspection. In the autumn light of Lion Mountain, take a break from the hustle and bustle of the world and let your body and mind be enveloped by the forest. Chicken mushrooms, porcini mushrooms, and green-headed mushrooms are cooked together in one pot, the broth is incredibly flavorful, a seasonal feast that you must try when visiting Yunnan. During the non-sterile season, you can choose local chicken hot pot, which is equally authentic. 3. Authentic Local Snacks: Yuanmou cold chicken rice noodles and cold rice rolls are refreshing and appetizing; pine needle roasted tofu is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a spicy and flavorful dipping sauce; buckwheat cakes dipped in honey are sweet and unique; Mouding fermented bean curd is a perfect accompaniment to rice, with a unique flavor. 4. Home-Style Cuisine: Lufeng salt-braised chicken and Yi ethnic eight-bowl feasts are made with simple ingredients and have a rich flavor, making them authentic Yunnan cuisine often served at local banquets. Tips: Chuxiong cuisine tends to be fresh, fragrant, and slightly spicy. If you don't eat spicy food, please inform the restaurant in advance; be cautious about long street banquets in scenic areas, as they are overpriced and the taste is generally mediocre. Authentic Yi cuisine can be found in old shops in residential areas of the city. ❌Super Comprehensive Guide to Avoiding Pitfalls | Hard-Earned Experiences, Don't Fall into These Trap! 1. Huge Pitfalls in Ancient Town Tourism 1. Reject Low-Priced Long Street Banquets on the Roadside! 1. **Low-priced Yi ethnic banquets sold at the entrance of the ancient town:** Most dishes are perfunctory, the ingredients are not fresh, and the seating is cramped. It's a purely tourist-driven experience with extremely low value for money. 2. **Avoid scams when taking photos in Yi ethnic costumes:** Street vendors offering photoshoots and clothing rentals often have hidden tricks. They'll charge extra for accessories and lighting later on. Prioritize shops with clearly marked prices; a full set of photos for around 30 yuan with no time limit is the most reliable. 3. **Fortune telling and blessing services in the ancient town:** These are all scams. They offer free fortune telling but then force you to pay a donation. Just ignore them. 4. **The ancient town is quiet during the day; don't rush there early. Focus on nighttime exploration; the night view and bonfire are the highlights.** 2. **Deadly pitfalls to avoid when eating wild mushrooms (crucial)** 1. **Never pick and eat wild mushrooms yourself!** Wild mushrooms found by the roadside, in the mountains, and in scenic areas often contain many highly poisonous species. Accidental ingestion can be fatal. Don't take the risk. 2. When eating wild mushrooms, always choose reputable, established restaurants and ensure they are fully cooked. Avoid eating raw or undercooked mushrooms, and refrain from drinking alcohol afterward to prevent poisoning. 3. Be cautious about eating cheap, loose mushrooms sold on the street; their quality is unknown, they may not be properly cleaned, and they can easily cause stomach upset. 3. Avoiding Scams When Traveling to Tourist Attractions 1. Yuanmou Earth Forest is far from the city center. Avoid taking unlicensed taxis or cheap shared rides, as they are likely to overcharge or abandon you halfway through the trip. Prioritize reputable ride-hailing services and direct shuttle buses to the scenic area, and confirm a fixed price before departure. 2. The Earth Forest is exposed to intense midday sun with no shade, so avoid traveling during this time and take precautions against sunburn. Do not climb over the guardrails in the ravines of the Earth Forest, as landslides and slippery conditions are common; safety is paramount. 3. The State Museum requires advance booking and is closed on Mondays; avoid making a wasted trip. Do not buy cheap tickets from scalpers at Dinosaur Valley, as they are unreliable and may expire. 4. Zixi Mountain has many mosquitoes in the forest; bring mosquito repellent. The mountain roads have many curves, so drive slowly. 4. Food and Drink Pitfalls 1. Don't trust taxi or tricycle drivers' recommendations for mushroom hotpot or Yi ethnic cuisine restaurants. They all receive kickbacks, resulting in overpriced and inauthentic food. 2. Snacks in ancient towns and scenic areas are overpriced. Try them casually; for authentic mutton soup or wild mushrooms, go directly to established restaurants in Chuxiong city. 3. Most roadside vendors claiming to sell "wild local products from the deep mountains" or "precious mushrooms" are actually selling artificially cultivated products at inflated prices. Be cautious when buying. 5. Transportation Tips 1. Chuxiong's attractions are spread across a wide area: the ancient towns in the city, Zixi Mountain, Yuanmou, and Lufeng are scattered across different regions. Don't try to visit multiple attractions in one day; the journey is time-consuming and the experience is poor. 2. Unlicensed taxis are rampant at the high-speed rail and train stations, charging exorbitant prices. For short distances, prioritize public transportation and ride-hailing services; refuse to accept unlicensed taxis soliciting passengers. 6. Avoiding Betrayals When Choosing Accommodation 1. Best choice for beginners: Lucheng area in Chuxiong city, or the area around the Yi Ancient Town! Convenient for dining, night markets, and transportation, with well-developed amenities. 2. Avoid staying in remote towns or farmhouses near the Earth Forest Scenic Area. Facilities are basic, hygiene is poor, and transportation is inconvenient. 3. Be wary of cheap, trendy guesthouses. Some are damp, dark, and poorly soundproofed, and prone to mold during the rainy season. Prioritize reputable hotels. 7. Avoiding Betrayals When Shopping for Local Products 1. Yi embroidery pendants, handmade silver jewelry, and wood carvings sold in scenic areas are often overpriced and poorly made; not recommended. 2. For souvenirs like Mouding fermented bean curd and buckwheat products, go directly to large local supermarkets for affordable, authentic, and straightforward deals. 8. Weather and Clothing Tips 1. Chuxiong has a large temperature difference between day and night. Even in summer, it's cool in the mornings and evenings, so bring a light jacket. The UV radiation is extremely strong, so sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are essential. 2. Mountainous areas are prone to rain and unpredictable weather; carry an umbrella. For hiking in earthen forests and mountain forests, wear non-slip sports shoes; avoid sandals and high heels. 3. Mountain roads are wet and slippery during the rainy season; pay attention to road conditions and avoid taking long detours to see undeveloped scenery. 🌟Core Itinerary (Optimal 3 days 2 nights, not rushed or tiring) Day 1: Yi Ancient Town Route | Ancient Town Night View, Cultural Relics, Immersive Yi Ethnic Customs Chuxiong Prefecture Museum: A free treasure museum, a must-visit first stop in Chuxiong! Outside of mushroom season, opt for a local chicken hot pot; the taste is equally authentic. 2. **Local Specialty Snacks:** Yuanmou cold chicken rice noodles and cold rice rolls are refreshingly tangy and appetizing; pine needle-roasted tofu is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a spicy and flavorful dipping sauce; buckwheat cakes dipped in honey are sweet and unique; Mouding fermented bean curd is a perfect accompaniment to rice, with a distinctive flavor. 3. **Home-Style Cuisine:** Lufeng salt-braised chicken and Yi ethnic eight-bowl feasts feature simple ingredients and rich flavors, authentic Yunnan cuisine often served at local banquets. · *Tips:** Chuxiong cuisine tends to be fresh, fragrant, and slightly spicy; inform the restaurant beforehand if you don't eat spicy food. Be cautious when choosing long street banquets in scenic areas; they are overpriced and the taste is average. Authentic Yi cuisine can be found in old shops in residential areas of the city. · *Tips:** Chuxiong cuisine leans towards fresh, fragrant, and slightly spicy; inform the restaurant beforehand if you don't eat spicy food. ❌Super Comprehensive Guide to Avoiding Pitfalls | Hard-Earned Lessons Learned, Don't Fall into These Trap! 1. Major Pitfalls in Ancient Town Tourism 1. Avoid Low-Priced Street Banquets! The cheap Yi ethnic street banquets promoted at the entrance of ancient towns are mostly poorly prepared, with stale ingredients, crowded seating, and a purely tourist-driven experience with extremely low value for money. 2. Avoid Pitfalls in Yi Ethnic Costume Photography: Street vendors offering photoshoots and clothing rentals often have hidden tricks. They'll charge extra for accessories and lighting later on. Prioritize shops with clearly marked prices; a full set of unlimited photos for around 30 yuan is the most reliable. 3. Fortune Telling and Blessing Bag Hanging in Ancient Towns are All Scams. Free fortune telling often ends with a forced donation; just ignore them. 4. Ancient towns are quiet during the day, so don't rush to visit too early. Focus on nighttime tours; the nighttime scenery and bonfires are the real highlights. 2. Deadly Pitfalls to Avoid When Eating Wild Mushrooms (Top Priority) 1. Never pick and eat wild mushrooms yourself! 1. Wild mushrooms found along roadsides and in scenic areas often contain a large number of highly poisonous fungi; accidental ingestion can be fatal. Do not take chances. 2. When eating wild mushrooms, always choose reputable, established restaurants and ensure they are fully cooked. Do not eat raw or undercooked mushrooms, and avoid drinking alcohol afterward to prevent poisoning. 3. Be cautious about eating cheap, loose mushrooms sold on the street; their quality is unknown, they may not be properly cleaned, and they can easily cause gastrointestinal upset. 3. Avoiding Scams When Traveling to Scenic Spots 1. Yuanmou Earth Forest is far from the city center. Do not take unlicensed taxis or cheap shared rides, as they are likely to overcharge or abandon you midway. Prioritize reputable ride-hailing services and direct shuttle buses to the scenic area, and confirm the price before departure. 2. The Earth Forest is exposed to intense midday sun with no shade. Avoid traveling during midday hours and take precautions against sunburn. Do not climb over the guardrails in the ravines of the Earth Forest, as landslides and slippery conditions are common. Safety first. 3. The State Museum requires advance booking and is closed on Mondays; do not make a wasted trip. Do not buy cheap tickets from scalpers at Dinosaur Valley; these are unreliable and may expire. 4. Zixi Mountain has many mosquitoes in its forests; bring mosquito repellent. The mountain roads are winding; drive slowly. 4. Food and Beverage Pitfalls 1. Don't trust taxi or tricycle drivers' recommendations for mushroom hot pot or Yi ethnic cuisine restaurants. They all receive kickbacks, are overpriced, and the food is not authentic. 2. Snacks in ancient towns and scenic areas are overpriced; just try a few. If you want authentic mutton soup or wild mushrooms, go directly to established restaurants in Chuxiong city. 3. Loose-packed local specialties sold on the roadside claiming to be "wild mountain produce" or "precious mushrooms" are mostly artificially cultivated and overpriced; be cautious when buying. 5. Transportation Tips 1. Chuxiong's attractions are spread across a wide area: the ancient towns in the city, Zixi Mountain, Yuanmou, and Lufeng are scattered in different areas. Don't try to visit multiple attractions in one day; the journey is time-consuming and the experience of rushing around is poor. 2. Unlicensed taxis are rampant at high-speed rail and train station exits, often charging exorbitant prices. For short distances, prioritize public transportation and ride-hailing services; avoid unlicensed taxis soliciting passengers. 6. Avoid Unlicensed Accommodation Options 1. Best choice for beginners: Lucheng and the area around the Yi Ancient Town in Chuxiong City! Convenient for dining, night markets, and transportation, with well-developed amenities. 2. Avoid staying in remote towns or farmhouses near the Earth Forest Scenic Area. Facilities are basic, hygiene is poor, and transportation is inconvenient. 3. Beware of cheap, trendy guesthouses. Some are damp, dark, and poorly soundproofed, prone to mold during the rainy season. Prioritize reputable hotels. 7. Avoid Unlicensed Shopping for Local Products 1. Yi embroidery pendants, handmade silver jewelry, and wood carvings sold in scenic areas are often overpriced and poorly made; not recommended. 2. For souvenirs like Mouding fermented bean curd and buckwheat products, go directly to large local supermarkets for affordable, authentic products without hidden tricks. 8. Weather and Clothing Tips 1. Chuxiong experiences significant temperature differences between day and night. Even in summer, it can be cool in the mornings and evenings, so a light jacket is essential. The UV index is extremely high, so sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are must-haves. 2. Mountainous areas are prone to rain and unpredictable changes in weather; always carry an umbrella. When hiking in the earthen forests and mountain forests, prioritize non-slip athletic shoes; avoid sandals and high heels. 3. During the rainy season, mountain roads are wet and slippery; pay attention to road conditions and avoid taking long detours or hiking through undeveloped areas.

I've been crazy about mushrooms for the last month, running all over the city and surrounding areas. Here's a list of the ones I've tried and liked! 📍 Junsansan Wild Mushroom Hotpot Super convenient in downtown Kunming. The free-range chicken soup base is sweet and savory, you can choose your own fresh mushrooms, and the stir-fried mushrooms are incredibly fragrant. Very satisfying for about 100 yuan per person. 📍 Jinning Jinshi Pot A long-standing local spot in Jinning. They cook free-range chicken in a stone pot, and the ganbajun mushroom fried rice is truly fragrant. It's super satisfying to drive here for a pot. 📍 Fumin Xiangbiling Wild Mushroom Villa Hidden in the mountains, the environment is airy and comfortable. If you're lucky, you can even go up the mountain to experience mushroom picking. 📍 Wuding Yuanlin Wild Mushroom Garden-style environment with a very hearty, robust chicken soup base. There's plenty of space with private rooms, but it gets busy at meal times, so remember to go early!

Long accustomed to the city's hustle and bustle, I found myself yearning for a tranquil haven where my soul could rest. As the autumn breeze began to stir, I followed the fame of the "No. 1 Mountain in the Southwest" and set foot on Lion Mountain in Wuding, Chuxiong. Amid the vast sea of forests, I discovered a homestay called "Moshang Yunlai." This was not just a simple stay, but a profound dialogue with the mountains, the breeze, the stars, and the moon. Upon arriving at Lion Mountain, one is immediately struck by its 90% forest coverage. Walking slowly up the thousand-year-old stone steps, sunlight filters through the layers of leaves, casting dappled shadows that dance at your feet. The crisp chirping of birds and the babbling of streams interweave into a natural symphony. With every deep breath, it feels like a thorough cleansing for your lungs. And the Moshang Yunlai homestay is perfectly nestled within this lush greenery. It doesn't boast ostentatious luxury, but with its modern minimalist style and natural straw-clay textures, it blends seamlessly into the mountain forest. Large floor-to-ceiling windows act like picture frames, inviting the green pines, verdant cypresses, mountain forests, and seas of clouds indoors without reservation, truly achieving the ideal of "open the door to see mountains, open the window to embrace greenery." Time at Moshang Yunlai stretches endlessly. In the morning, no alarm clock is needed; the crisp birdsong from the forest gently wakes you. Opening the window, the cool morning breeze carries the fresh scent of pine needles. In the distance, the flat-topped Jade Lake appears and disappears in the mist, like a fairyland. In the afternoon, there's no need to plan an itinerary. Simply take a seat in the homestay's tea lounge, brew a pot of clear tea, or lazily recline on the sofa on the forest terrace. Holding a cup of rich coffee, watching the clouds drift among the green mountains and the breeze rustle through the treetops, time seems to stand still. All fatigue and restlessness are soothed away by the mountain breeze. As the setting sun gradually sinks into the forest sea and the evening breeze brings a hint of coolness, the nightlife at Moshang Yunlai just begins. It's not just a place with comfortable rooms, but a "resting spot" with everything for eating, drinking, and having fun. As night falls, you can chat with friends at the open-air tea bar, watch an outdoor movie, or even sing your heart out in the KTV. If you're in the mood, you can even take a swing at the mini-golf course. And when the night grows quiet, lying on the soft bed, falling asleep to the stars and the evening breeze, the poetic sentiment of "building a house in the human world, yet free from the noise of carriages and horses" becomes the most precious memory of this autumn.

In the heart of central Yunnan lies a famous mountain named for its resemblance to a crouching lion—Wuding Lion Mountain. Beyond its reputation as the "No. 1 Mountain in the Southwest" for its majestic and rugged beauty, it hides a secret sanctuary where your soul can take a deep breath: Moshang Yunlai Homestay. It is more than just a place to stay; it is a poem written in the forest, waiting for every traveler longing to escape the hustle and bustle to come and savor it. In early autumn, while the summer heat still lingers in the city, Lion Mountain has already donned a cool, green coat. As you ascend the winding stone steps, the natural symphony of birdsong and wind weaves around you, and the scent of grass and earth fills the air. Passing through the lush, primeval forest, a simple yet elegant building quietly comes into view—this is Moshang Yunlai. The design of the homestay eschews complex decorations, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that bring the mountain forests and sea of clouds indoors without reservation. Sunlight, breezes, and greenery become the most luxurious decor here. Staying here, time seems to have been set to slow motion. In the morning, there is no need for an alarm; the crisp chirping of birds is the gentlest wake-up call. Open the window, and before the morning mist has dispersed, the distant mountains appear and disappear in the sea of clouds, like a flowing ink wash painting. Take a deep breath, and the high concentration of negative oxygen ions instantly cleanses your lungs, letting you truly understand what a "natural oxygen bar" is. In the afternoon, nothing is more pleasant than ordering a coffee on the forest terrace, sitting on a comfortable sofa, watching light and shadow dance among the leaves, and listening to the pines whispering in your ear. At that moment, all anxiety and fatigue are gently smoothed away by the mountain breeze. Beyond the stunning natural scenery, the profound cultural heritage of Lion Mountain adds a unique charm to this journey. The homestay is adjacent to the Zhengxu Zen Temple, which has a history of over 700 years and is said to be where Emperor Jianwen once lived as a monk. While enjoying the scenery, you might want to take a walk in the temple, feeling a sense of inner peace amidst the towering ancient trees and lingering Buddhist chants. When the sun sets, you can go boating on Pingding Yuhu Lake at the top of the mountain, watching the green waves ripple and the mountains reflect in the water, or participate in a jungle trek, rediscovering long-lost childhood innocence among suspension bridges and log swings. As night falls, Moshang Yunlai reveals its warm side. The light and shadow of an open-air movie flicker on the screen, or you can sing a song with a few friends in the KTV, or swing a club on the mini-golf course, fully enjoying the leisure of the mountains. When everything falls silent, lie on the soft and comfortable bed, drift off to sleep accompanied by the faint chirping of insects outside the window, and have a sweet dream about the mountains, forests, and sea of flowers.

I'm always following guides to discover delicious food. This place is tucked away in an alley opposite the south gate of Cuihu Park. Netizens call it a hidden gem courtyard wild mushroom hotpot 🍲 Let's see what it's all about. After heading to Cuihu to enjoy the cool breeze of the "Spring City" and take some photos, we decided to grab lunch nearby. We saw this wild mushroom hotpot place in the alley had great reviews, so we made the effort to find the entrance. I felt those few minutes of wandering around were totally worth it. A courtyard surrounded by greenery and huge yellow roses 🍃 The restaurant has lots of super cute mushroom decorations. Their wild mushroom hotpot uses broth simmered with Wuding black-bone chicken—anyone from Yunnan should know about Wuding free-range chicken. We chose the 4-person set menu, which came out to less than 100 per person. The restaurant selects 5 types of mushrooms based on the latest arrivals from Chuxiong. That's a big plus, ensuring you get to eat seasonal mushrooms. This is how mountain delicacies should be enjoyed. There's also Dehe luncheon meat, which I've been eating since I was a kid, and freshly sliced beef. When cooked in the free-range chicken broth, it turns a golden yellow. Adding these side dishes makes it incredibly fragrant. We didn't order the porcini mushroom rice bowl 🍛 recommended online. We were too full, so we'll come back next time. Pair it with some ice jelly and passion fruit juice, and this is the perfect mountain delicacy feast for autumn nourishment.

I would honestly keep coming back to Zhongguancun just for this porcini mushroom rice!! The ambiance at Ban Shan Yao is just incredible—elegant, wood-toned decor. There's a large outdoor seating area, too. With the afternoon sun streaming down, sipping a pour-over coffee here is just so chill. It's the top choice for dates and gatherings in Haidian. Stir-fried beef jerky with wrinkled peppers: The aroma of the wrinkled peppers is so unique, and paired with the air-dried beef, it gets more fragrant the more you chew. It's full of "wok hei." Stir-fried porcini mushrooms with spices: The umami of the mushrooms is fully unleashed by the high-heat stir-fry. The texture is tender and smooth, giving you the satisfaction of eating meat. Simao sweet bamboo shoots braised with porcini mushrooms: The bamboo shoots are crisp and tender, the mushrooms are thick and meaty, and the sauce is rich—it's amazing over rice. Dai-style sour soup shrimp: The sourness comes from natural fermentation and is very mellow. The shrimp is extremely tender, and even the side vegetables are delicious. Wuding hen soup with fresh wild mushrooms: The broth is rich and savory, the mushrooms are smooth, and every spoonful is packed with collagen and natural umami. You have to try the Black Rose coffee. The dark roast brings out rich notes of nuts and cocoa. It's mellow and smooth—sipping a cup in such an elegant setting is pure enjoyment.

Freshly stewed Wuding free-range chicken soup daily, simmered with wild mushrooms. The outer ring features a refreshing mountain sour broth, perfect for dipping freshly sliced local yellow beef tenderloin. Upon entering, you'll see a wide variety of fruits. The aunties meticulously clean the fresh wild mushrooms – a visibly reassuring experience. Besides hot pot, the other stir-fries are also a hit with my taste buds. The stir-fried bolete is crisp and tender with a slightly charred aroma, unlocking the true flavor of the mountains in one bite. The wild porcini mushroom rice is also delicious, with crispy bits at the bottom – I ate two bowls straight! · And that's not all! There are over thirty kinds of Dai-style dipping sauces to mix and match. A variety of Yunnan mountain vegetables are available for an all-you-can-eat buffet. The value is off the charts! · For breakfast, you can also enjoy a bowl of clear broth beef rice noodles. While the world rushes toward bustling cities, I alone cherish the simple joys of the mountains and fields. The city grows noisier year after year, footsteps hurried, and hearts restless amid the busyness. If you grow tired of the worldly hustle and weary of the constant commotion, consider heading deep into Wuding’s Lion Mountain, to Cloud Arrival on the Path. Amid the green mountains and mist, find a long-lost sense of relaxation and peace. Here, hidden within the vast forest sea of the southwest’s top mountain, with over 90% forest coverage, lies a rare secluded sanctuary near Kunming and Chuxiong. Away from the city’s noise and crowds, with mountains as walls, mist as curtains, and the breeze as company, nature itself becomes poetry. As the ancients said, “Build a hut among people, yet hear no noise of carts or horses.” This tranquil scene is the truest form of Cloud Arrival on the Path. The beauty of Cloud Arrival on the Path lies in its naturalness and refined elegance. The architecture nestles into the mountain, built in harmony with the terrain, without excessive luxury—just the genuine feel of mountain living. The original straw-painted walls are warm and delicate, carrying the unique gentle texture of the wild, while the clean, simple lines make the houses seem to grow naturally from the forest, perfectly blending with the rolling green mountains and vast mist, forming a seamless whole. Most captivating are the staggered panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows in the rooms, like natural picture frames capturing the four seasons of Lion Mountain. Mornings bring light mist over the hills and birdsong; evenings bring gentle breezes and stars stretching across the wild. Spring flowers bloom around the eaves, greenery flourishes; summer’s forest sea is deep and cool; autumn’s layered woods turn golden, softening the landscape; winter’s clouds drift over the green mountains, quiet and distant. The seasons change, each view unique, every day gentle. Inside, the decor features natural wood tones, simple, clean, and soothing. Shedding the cold rigidity of urban hotels, it offers the relaxed warmth unique to mountain homes. Various room types are thoughtfully arranged: tranquil mountain rooms for quiet reflection, bright forest rooms filled with sunlight, romantic scenic rooms for couples, and spacious suites for vacations—perfect for solitude, couples, or gatherings with friends and family. The bedding is clean and soft, facilities complete. Open the window to see greenery, lounge to watch the clouds—staying here means truly living within the scenery. Living at Cloud Arrival on the Path, time naturally slows down. This is a natural forest oxygen bar hidden in the mountains, filled with negative ions. Every breath gently refreshes body and mind. No need to rush schedules or travel far. Wake to birdsong in the forest, stretch with the breeze; sit quietly in the courtyard tea room in the afternoon, brew a pot of tea, watch the clouds roll by, and let worries drift away with the mountain wind; stroll leisurely along mountain paths, step through shade, smell flowers, take in the views, and immerse yourself in the peace and healing of the wild. After rain, Cloud Arrival on the Path takes on a special charm. The washed mountain forest grows even greener and clearer, the air sweet and mild, the plants fragrant. The wild offers nature’s fresh gifts—wild mushrooms sprouting in dense woods and grass, the true wild flavor unique to Lion Mountain. One bite of their fresh richness tastes pure nature. At dusk, the wild returns to quiet. The evening breeze moves through the forest, bringing soft sounds, cooling the day’s heat, leaving only peace. As night falls, stars fill the sky. Far from city lights and noise, look up to a clear starry river, fall asleep to mountain winds and insect songs, resting peacefully with sweet dreams. Vacationing is never about rushing through sights but about true rest for body and soul. Cloud Arrival on the Path hides a mountain’s breeze and moonlight, guarding a place of calm. It avoids crowds and chaos, preserving the wild’s authenticity, with mountains as the backdrop and mist as the story, gently welcoming every weary traveler home. Among all the journeys in life, none compare to a mountain retreat. Choose a day of leisure, escape the noise, come to Cloud Arrival on the Path, meet the green mountains, embrace the mist, and in the gentle time of slow mountain living, heal all fatigue and encounter the truest poetry and beauty of life.

Chuxiong, known as the Yi ethnic region of central Yunnan, boasts rich Yi culture, dinosaur remains, unique earth forests, and a thousand-year-old salt town. With fewer crowds and lower prices, this itinerary connects over ten attractions, offering a comprehensive experience of Chuxiong's unique scenery. Day 1: City Cultural Loop, Immersive Experience of Yi Culture In the morning, visit the Chuxiong Prefecture Museum (free entry with ID, but closed on Mondays). The museum houses the Wanjia Dam bronze drum, complete Lufeng dinosaur fossils, and traditional Yi clothing. Free guided tours explain the Yi ten-month solar calendar culture. A ten-minute walk will take you to the China Yi Ten-Month Solar Calendar Cultural Park, where the giant ten-animal totem pole is highly recognizable. The observatory and folk custom exhibition hall fully recreate the ancient Yi astronomy and calendar. Rent a Yi costume for photos for a truly immersive experience. In the afternoon, stroll through Yihai Park. The tranquil beach by the lake is a popular spot for locals to relax and unwind. In the evening, head straight to the core attraction, the Yi Ancient Town (free entry all day). Explore the covered bridge, Bimo Square, and intangible cultural heritage embroidery shops. As night falls and the lights come on, the Sifang Street hosts a bonfire dance every evening, which tourists can join in for a lively atmosphere. Climb to the top of Futa Park for a panoramic view of the city at sunset; the evening glow against the backdrop of the Yi ethnic architecture creates a truly soothing scene. For dinner, try the Yi-style whole lamb soup hot pot, served with buckwheat cakes—a unique and delicious experience. Day 2: Ancient Geological Wonders, Exploring Natural Wonders Depart for Lufeng World Dinosaur Valley, the hometown of dinosaurs in China 🦕. The archaeological site preserves the original dinosaur fossil layers, with hundreds of skeletons that are truly awe-inspiring. The science museum and Jurassic amusement area combine fun and knowledge, and you can even soak in the dinosaur hot springs after a day of fun. On the return trip, stop by Heijing Ancient Town, a thousand-year-old salt capital with minimal commercialization. The old cobblestone streets, ancient salt wells, and Wu Family Courtyard exude a sense of history. You can also watch a demonstration of traditional salt-making methods, and be sure to try the local specialty, salt-braised chicken. Day 3: Concluding with a visit to fantastical landforms and filming locations. Early in the morning, drive to Yuanmou Wumao Earth Forest. Millions of years of water have sculpted layers of earth pillars, making this filming location for "The Promise" incredibly futuristic. 🌄 The midday sun is intense with no shade, so it's recommended to enter the park after 4 PM. At sunset, the earth forest is bathed in golden-red hues, perfect for taking photos. After exploring the scenic area, stop by the less-visited hiking spot, Jiyi Grand Canyon. The canyon is deep and rugged, with magnificent natural scenery. If time permits, visit Zixi Mountain Forest Park, with its dense forests, ancient temples nestled among the trees, and fresh air. Food Tips 🥘 Food: June to September is wild mushroom season. The wild mushroom hot pot at the old restaurants in the city is delicious and flavorful; avoid the overpriced restaurants in the ancient towns. Cold chicken rice noodles, Mouding fermented bean curd, and Yuanmou cold noodles are all affordable local specialties.

Deep within Wuding Lion Mountain lies a secret realm forgotten by time. Here, there is no urban hustle and bustle, only endless green mountains and vast seas of forest. Stranger Clouds Come is like a hermit quietly resting in this green embrace, waiting for every soul longing to return to nature. Stepping in feels like crossing an invisible barrier that isolates all worldly troubles. Surrounding you is lush primeval forest, towering ancient trees, entwined vines, and the air filled with the fresh scent of plants and the fragrance of earth. Every breath is a heartfelt embrace with nature, inhaling abundant negative ions and exhaling long-held impurities. Here, you are no longer the weary worker rushing through the workplace but a pure life form breathing and living in harmony with the mountains, rivers, and plants. In the morning, what wakes you is not a harsh alarm but the crisp bird songs outside the window. Opening the window, the mountain mist has yet to dissipate; milky fog flows through the woods like a fairyland. Sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dappled shadows that warmly touch your skin. You can walk barefoot on the damp boardwalk, feel the earth’s warmth, watch dew roll on leaf tips, and listen to the rustling bamboo in the breeze. At this moment, time seems to stand still, and the world is just you and this forest. In the afternoon, find a quiet corner, brew a pot of tea, and watch the clouds roll by. Here, the clouds are so close they seem within reach. They gather and disperse among the mountains, shifting into wondrous shapes—sometimes like a stampede of horses, sometimes like delicate silk dancing. You can think of nothing, simply daydream, letting your thoughts drift with the clouds to distant places. Or hold a book and savor its words in the gentle breeze, the text and scenery reflecting each other to form a breathtaking picture. As night falls, the forest plays the symphony of the night. The chorus of insects rises and falls, stars twinkle in the night sky, as if telling ancient stories. Here, without the interference of neon lights, only a sky full of stars accompanies you to sleep. Lying in a comfortable bed, listening to the pine waves outside the window, it feels like sleeping in nature’s cradle, with a heart full of peace. Stranger Clouds Come is not just a place to live but a symbol of a lifestyle attitude. It reminds us that life is not only about the struggles before us but also about poetry and distant horizons. In this forest, we can shed all pretenses and defenses, be our truest selves, and enjoy a truly secluded time that belongs to us alone.

Six hundred years ago, the Yuan Dynasty painter Huang Gongwang wielded his brush by the Fuchun River, distilling the autumnal essence of Jiangnan and the soul of the landscape into the timeless masterpiece "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains." Every brushstroke in that scroll conceals the ancients' ultimate yearning for a reclusive life. Today, as I step into Stranger Clouds Come, I realize this painting has not been sealed by time; it has long come alive amidst the mist of Lion Mountain. This place is not merely a residence but a real-life extension of a landscape painting. At dawn, when the first ray of sunlight pierces the thin mist and falls upon the rolling mountains, the view outside the window unfolds like a slowly unrolling ink scroll. Distant peaks appear and disappear in the haze, nearby trees are lush and dripping with vitality—no filter needed, every frame before your eyes is a live recreation of "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains." Here, the architecture hides among the woods, neither overwhelming nor ostentatious, humbly existing as a medium for dialogue between humans and nature. "Stranger Clouds Come" itself carries a poetic sense of retreat. Living here means embracing a long-lost Zen lifestyle. In the afternoon, find a cozy seat by the window and brew a pot of aged Pu'er tea. The rising aroma blends seamlessly with the mountain mists outside. What you hold in your hands is not just tea but the spirit of the mountains. Time seems to freeze; worldly clamor is shut out beyond the mountains, leaving only the rustling of wind through treetops and the occasional birdcall. Here, no extra entertainment is needed because "quiet" itself is a luxurious pleasure. You can stroll alone along mountain paths, watch the clouds roll by, and savor the earthy fragrance beneath your feet; or sit quietly in the courtyard, watching the sunset stretch the mountain shadows, experiencing the ethereal "all things return to stillness." This is a "forest oxygen" baptism, allowing a weary soul to stretch out in nature’s embrace. As night falls, the mountain’s tranquility deepens. Without city neon lights, only a sky full of stars and the flickering mountain lights create a charming contrast. Lying in a warm dwelling, listening to the insects outside the window, it feels as if you can hear the wind that once accompanied Huang Gongwang’s brush six centuries ago. Stranger Clouds Come is not just a place to stay but a dialogue across time and space. It allows us, amid the busyness of modern life, to find a pure land to rest our souls, truly living inside that timeless "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains."
