After getting lost several times, I finally found Xiamen's "Sunset Express" viewing spot. 📍 How to get there: Search for "Skyless 33" on a map. Then walk up the stone path. Flew back from Xiamen to Singapore on Singapore Airlines SQ869, seated in 48A in Economy Class — an emergency exit row seat. The extra legroom made a noticeable difference, especially on a mid-length regional flight. Being able to stretch out comfortably definitely elevates the economy experience. The meal served was chicken meatballs pasta, and it was surprisingly good for airline food. The pasta was cooked well, the sauce flavorful without being too heavy, and the chicken meatballs were tender. A satisfying hot meal that didn’t feel like an afterthought. In-flight entertainment (IFE) was solid as usual with a good selection of movies and shows to keep the journey enjoyable. Cabin service was warm and professional — consistent with what you’d expect from Singapore Airlines. Visiting Sunlight Rock (日光岩) on Gulangyu Island was one of the highlights of the trip. As the island’s highest point, it offers panoramic views that make the short climb completely worthwhile. The path up involves some stone steps and narrow passages, but nothing too strenuous. Once you reach the top, the reward is clear — sweeping views of Gulangyu’s red-roofed buildings, the surrounding sea, and even parts of Xiamen city across the water. On a clear day, the scenery feels expansive and refreshing. The site also carries historical significance, with inscriptions and landmarks that reflect Gulangyu’s cultural past. Despite being a popular attraction, the experience at the summit feels open and airy. Xiamen 2 Days 2 Nights Citywalk Travel Guide 🌴 I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. I was torn between the Waldorf Astoria and the Conrad 7 Shang. The Waldorf Astoria doesn't have a sea view, but I felt the overall experience would be better. The service was excellent. The only downside was that takeout couldn't be delivered upstairs; you had to pick it up yourself! Breakfast was pretty good. The toiletries were Aesop. The location is quite close to SM Plaza and MixC, and getting around by taxi is very convenient. My ride-hailing driver recommended Ah Zhong's Food Court! Delicious! I went around 1:00 PM, even though there wasn't a queue, it was still quite crowded. We ordered three dishes, and the waiter told us not to order any more. The portions were huge! The oyster rice (small portion, as shown in the picture) was only 38 RMB! Many people recommend Shiheli Ginger Duck. The duck is very flavorful, and the owner is very nice. Eating by the roadside has a lively, down-to-earth atmosphere. Citywalk: Take a taxi to Xingfu Road-Huaxin Road-Flower and Bird Market. There are many small shops and cafes. When the sun is shining, the shade of the trees, flowers, and shadows are beautiful. It's a very pleasant place to stroll and take photos.
