This is a fabulous place for an authentic Japanese holiday. The location is beautiful. The outdoor hot spring bathing area is clean and looks like a movie set. The included meals are generous in portion size and are delicious. Our room overlooked the river and it was great. Tatami floors and shoji screen windows. This is an old and historic place and does not cater to western norms. You sleep on futons on the floor. Only Japanese food is available. But it is a wonderful place to spend some time.

We had a very good overall experience at this onsen hotel. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we enjoyed our stay very much. We especially appreciated having an English-speaking staff member available — it made communication much easier and helped us feel more comfortable during our visit.

The hotel's free shuttle service was fantastic! While not located directly in the hot spring town, the convenient minibus shuttle service for transfers was a huge plus. Dinner was great, with a good selection of beverages. Breakfast was also excellent! The hot springs are shared with the adjacent hotel, and my family thoroughly enjoyed the soak. Excellent value for money!

The location is great, right in front of the Yubatake. The room is quite old, so the toilet, bath, and sink are small, but the steak and tempura for dinner were delicious. I didn't know there was a last shuttle bus from the parking lot, so I arrived after the last one had left, but they arranged an extra bus and got me to the hotel safely. Next time, I'd like to arrive a little earlier and explore Kusatsu.

It was a short walk away from the Minakami Onsen bus stop and the room was clean. Loved the private onset overlooking the river as well. We didn't have breakfast there as the price was a little steep for us (~27 SGD) but there's a nearby bakery and other F&B, so food was not an issue. They provide PJs and a cardigan to put over as well. Staff was nice too.

Spoiled for choice with the buffet breakfast and dinner, alongside 3 hot springs to use. However, our rooms were quite dusty, especially in the washroom bathtubs and around the toilet basin.

It was pretty close to the stone steps, which was nice, but the building was a bit old and the food was average. We were given a 4,000 yen voucher for two people, but it couldn't be used to buy souvenirs at the shop, and could only be used for drinks at dinner, so we didn't drink Angkor, and we ended up with about 3,000 yen left. Very disappointing!

One of the more superior ryokans we stayed in. Awesome onsen, both indoors and outdoors, with excellent service from all staff. Upon entering the car park, staff will come with umbrellas to help with luggage and it was a very very light drizzle. We had dinner in the room and breakfast in the common area but still segregated for privacy. The food was delicious- we had wagyu and enjoyed it very much. When we left, the owner’s daughter was sending us off at the entrance. 100% would return for another stay if we venture to Kusatsu onsen again.

Omori has a rich history as a Ryokan. The interior is homely and vintage! Like it’s frozen in time in the 1980s. The lounge has a panoramic view of Mount Akagi and several other mountain ranges. you can sip sake or wine from paid dispensers while you find your zen. The Level 8 outdoor bath is awesome and spacious. Views are awesome and the air is refreshing. Omori is right next to the Ikaho bus station as well as the Ikaho Ropeway. Just a 5mins walk to the stone steps as well. Even though the nearest Kombini (Famimart) is a 15 minute walk away, they have their own minimart. Breakfast was well crafted with hand-picked local Gunma produce. Awesome!!!

GGuest UserI stayed at this onsen hostel and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—very convenient for exploring the area. The staff spoke English, which made communication smooth, and the place had a nice mix of Japanese and Western atmosphere. Everything was clean and comfortable. That said, I was hoping for a more traditional, authentic onsen experience. Still, it’s a great option for travelers looking for comfort and accessibility.

GGuest UserRoom & vibes Stayed in a traditional tatami room and it was so Japanese in the best way – futon, tatami smell, the whole ryokan fantasy. Super cosy, perfect if you’re here to soak, chill, and live your best onsen‑town main‑character life. Buildings & facilities Hotel has three blocks, all connected via the main building, so you’ll always pass through it anyway. Most of the good stuff – hot springs, buffet etc. – is in the Annex building where I stayed, so it was really convenient, just no Yubatake view (that’s only for the main building rooms). Location & mini shopping zone They literally have their own shopping area on the first floor of the main building, right by Yubatake and the hot spring street, so you can roll out of the hotel in yukata and start browsing. Super easy to snack, shop, then hop back into the onsen without feeling like you “went out”. Transport & walking in snow There’s a shuttle bus to the nearest public transport stop, so luggage days are easy. You can walk it in under 10 minutes, but in snow season the road gets icy and crazy slippery, so honestly not recommended unless you trust your shoes (and your balance). Staff & service energy Hotel staff are amazing – super friendly and actually proactive. Besides Japanese and English, some staff speak Mandarin and will just switch to it to help you out, and they’ll even offer to take photos for you before you have the chance to ask, which is perfect for solo or shy travellers.

GGuest UserThe location is very good, the hot spring is also very good, booked including breakfast, dinner, both meals are ordinary, nothing special. The room is large and very comfortable. The biggest problem is that there is no wifi in the room, only in the lobby, no payment. I have seen nearby hotels provide WiFi, want to book Osaka House to accept this point 😅

GGuest UserA relax and nice view in Kusatsu. The hotel is located a bit far from bus terminal. However, there is a free shuttle bus service which connected with bus service. I strongly encourage the private onsen package where we can taste three different type of onsen in the hotel. My platinum ring changed colour, may be due to the acidity of onsen water😂. The dinner and breakfast inspired and it is good for family trip with a number of accessible service for elderly with physically limitations.

GGuest UserThe facilities were very clean as they had just been renovated. The buffet had a great variety, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious! The heating in the room was apparently faulty, but I suspect the entire facility might have had issues, as even with the provided heater, some areas were very cold. At dinner, we were seated near the entrance, and it was so incredibly cold that many of the dishes were already cool, which was a real shame. When I went to the onsen in the morning, the changing room was so cold it felt like being outside. I warmed up in the hot spring, but then got cold again in the changing room. Also, there was a lot of hair on the floor near the dryers in the changing room, which was quite unpleasant. I used the onsen three times but never saw any staff cleaning it. There were hair straighteners in addition to dryers, but there were no outlets to plug in my own, which was also disappointing. I hope these issues can be improved.
