I'm currently staying at the Tokiwa Hotel in Kofu and I already miss it. I could feed the koi in my room, and living in the gardens was a delight. The hotel offers a shuttle to Iwa Onsen Station at fixed times, but reservations are required. I asked Ctrip to make reservations, but they couldn't get me there due to the low number of guests. Taxis are also available. It's not quite walking distance, but the ten-minute drive is enough. Upon arrival, I saw koi everywhere, along with many unique rocks and several breathtaking gardens. My room was a Japanese-style A-shaped room on the first floor, right by the water, where I could feed the koi. I loved it so much I bought four bags of fish food. When I booked the room, I didn't have a room for two meals, but I asked Ctrip to add breakfast and dinner in advance. We didn't have time to book dinner at the hotel, so we had dinner on the first floor in our room. It cost over 14,000 yen. The service and the girl who brought us to our room were very nice, friendly, and attentive. Although she didn't speak Chinese, she was very attentive and gentle, and a very nice person. The dinner was a bit average, but the Wagyu beef was delicious, and it was a pleasant and enjoyable meal in our room overlooking the gardens. Breakfast on the second floor was a bit simple, around 3,500 yen, which is not expensive. The downside is that the first floor is too close to the water, and the sound of running water is noticeable at night. Fortunately, I brought good-quality earplugs; ordinary earplugs probably wouldn't have blocked it out. The bathroom has no windows and is on the first floor, and there's a small urinal that smells a bit. However, the curtains do provide blackout shade, which is a positive comment. The large hot spring bath is excellent, with a large open-air bath. The room also has an onsen, though the pool is a bit shallow. I didn't book a meal. There's a convenience store 500 meters away, and an izakaya across the street for evening dining. You'll need to look for one at noon, as the hotel doesn't offer lunch. The lounge offers excellent coffee 24 hours a day. This was a wonderful stay for koi enthusiasts. The hotel isn't busy, but it's well-maintained. The room's flower arrangements are fresh, the hairdryer is a RefA, and there's a piggy bank to keep mosquitoes away. I'd definitely book again. It's much prettier than the Tokiwa Hotel, whose rooms are filled with artificial flowers, which is rather tacky.

If you're visiting Lake Yamanaka by car, this hotel comes highly recommended. The rooms are very spacious, and free parking is a definite plus. However, due to its somewhat secluded location, I'd suggest stocking up on drinks and snacks at a convenience store before you arrive. Getting out and about will only be convenient if you have your own vehicle.

Both children and I are very satisfied with the sudden change and the meals are more variable than I imagined. Only one point ... I checked in at the relaxation corner and thought that I would make a reservation immediately, and when I went to the reception, I was told that it was impossible to make a reservation at 17:00 and I was very looking forward to the massage. It was a pity. The response of the female staff at the relaxation reception was not good.

It is a traditional hot spring hotel. We stayed in the old wing this time. I heard that one side is newly renovated. The old wing really has its age and the rooms have a bit of a smell. In mid-February, we made a reservation for the family bath on the 5th floor, but the floor was damaged and had not been repaired. It was dangerous for children to pass by. The front desk had limited English and could not fully communicate. There are not many tourists, and overall I am very satisfied.

Really like the size of the room with the kitchen, but it got a bit cold and dry at night. It’s not that far from the train station but you will need to take a taxi if you have luggage. We really enjoyed the fact that it was near a huge supermarket. We could buy ingredients to cook.

We are a group of four ladies who stayed in Suite 841, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience at Kaneyamaen. The breathtaking view of Mount Fuji from our room was truly unforgettable. The entire environment is serene and calming, and we felt warmly welcomed at every corner of the hotel. Everything is impeccably maintained and spotlessly clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kaneyamaen to all my friends, and I definitely hope to return for more relaxation therapy in the future. Thank you, Kaneyamaen, for everything!

A classic old-school modern hotel with ryokan-type service. The room is huge and has excellent views of the river. On a good day, it should be possible to see Mount Fuji as well. There is also big onsen area with an outdoor bath area. Dinner is served on the ground floor restaurant and it was a delicious multicourse meal which includes really good wagyu steak with wasabi shoyuzuke. Dessert also includes the region's famed grapes. Breakfast was served buffet style with selection of Japanese and western items. I drove to the hotel with a rental car. It is not too far from a station on a local line but I recommend driving around to explore instead. The patrons to the hotel also seemed more local.

The price-performance ratio is very high, there are hot springs for free, and the boss's service is good. Thank you. When I traveled to Japan, this hotel was the most satisfactory for me among the hotels I stayed in Japan. It is next to the Self-Defense Forces Residence.
