Banteay Kdei Review

One of the "lesser" temples of Angkor, but equally spectacular, and added advantage is the tour buses and crowds mostly avoid it. Definitely worth the detour.

Pandrakati is a relatively small temple, architectural style and reliefs are very similar to Angkor Wat, but not so majestic, there are four-faced Buddha statues at the door, the smile of Khmer is mysterious.

Banteay Kdei, a Buddhist temple, is located just west of the Royal Bath Pool (Sras Srang), built by the Seventh King of Vang Ye Bama at the end of the 12th century. Legend has it that Bandaikati Temple was created by the then Royal Architect Kavindrarimathana, and the Royal bathing pool attached to the East was also the masterpiece of the Royal Architect. During the reign of Dharabama II, the Bandaikati Temple was expanded. The legend of Bandaikati Monastery is that the King and Queen of Zhenla had a rest after swimming in the Royal bathing pool. Later, King Vanyabama VII transformed it into a Buddhist monastery. Later, in order to facilitate their lives, monks carried out some renovations to the facilities such as the temple corridors. For some reason, the internal construction of the central tower of the monastery has never been completed. Nowadays, the central Temple Pagoda and corridor have collapsed, and many places are almost ruins. It is hard to see the layout here.

The scenery is beautiful, very interesting, cost-effective, worth a visit

The temple is located on the west side of the Royal Baths and is said to be the hand of the Royal architect Gavi Indira Limodona. The royal baths attached to the east side are also the masterpieces of the royal architect. The temple is flat and opposite the East Tower Gate is the royal baths. The original temples were surrounded by rectangular walls, and now the walls are gone, leaving only the ruined temples in the middle. If you sum up the temple in one or two sentences, it is: it is a flat building, no towering temple tower; the gate of the four-sided pagoda is similar to the temple of Bayan; Inside is a maze of deep promenades; there are exquisite statues of the Apasala fairy on the beams of the temple. There are not many people visiting here, it is very quiet. My brother and I opened our first stop in Siem Reap.

Geographically Banteay Kdel located opposite the Royal Bath (west), on the tourist route of many friends, he should be arranged on Day 2. At this time, everyone has been visually tired of many Angkor Wat buildings. So many people will give up the temple. But if you come to Angkor Wat on May Day or other holidays, I recommend everyone to take a walk here. Because it has the overall structure of the entire Angkor Wat building, there are many stone sculptures that make me feel very interesting. Of course, because many people have given up here, there is a rare peace here.
