Hassan II Mosque Review

Hassan II Mosque is a mosque in Morocco located on the Atlantic coast of Casablanca. It is very large and has a great atmosphere of solemn tranquility.

Just magic. This mosque is the largest mosque in Africa and the 10th largest in the world. It’s around 40 min walk from city centre, but better to take a taxi.

The mosque was built directly with the late King Hassan II. Construction began in August 1987 at a cost of more than $500 million and covers an area of 9 hectares. One third of the area is built at sea to commemorate the ancestors of Moroccan Arabs from the sea. The entire mosque can accommodate 100,000 people at the same time, making it the third largest mosque in the world, after the mosques of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
