As with most places in Japan, make sure you book your ticket and time slot in advance. A tour is required for each visit. However, the tour groups are so big, it's difficult to hear the tour guide. The palace itself is beautiful, but I recommend reading up on the history yourself before coming, because the tour is basically only worth it for the people at the very front of the group. The rest of the group just hears everyone else around them talking.

The Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan is absolutely stunning 🏯 It's a symbol of Japan's rich history and culture. The palace complex is surrounded by beautiful gardens and moats, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere. While the palace itself is not open to the public, you can still visit the East Gardens which offer a glimpse into the imperial grounds. It's a great place to take a leisurely stroll and admire the traditional architecture and lush greenery. If you're interested in Japanese history and want to experience a tranquil oasis in the heart of Tokyo, the Imperial Palace is a must-visit. Have you had the chance to explore the beauty of the Imperial Palace? 🌸🇯🇵

If you have short time in Tokyo you may skip this spot as walking inside the huge garden takes long time and not much to see. But if you have min 4-5 days to spend in Tokyo, you can spare 2-3hrs for this location. Beautiful garen though.

The Imperial Palace has served as the residential place of the successive Emperors since 1868. It contains the Imperial Residence and the Imperial Palace Complex, where His Majesty the Emperor undertakes official duties. Various ceremonies and public activities are held there too.

I went there on early November when the leaves were turning orange & yellow. The palace is so big. There’re parks inside the palace

A visit to the Imperial Palace is one of the best things to do in Tokyo! There are free guided tours available that will enable you to explore the inner grounds, but no buildings are visited. Furthermore, you can visit the adjacent Imperial Palace East Gardens, which have been open to the public since 1968.
