Tiantishan Grottoes is not only one of the earliest grottoes opened in China, but also represents the early grotto art of China, with far-reaching influence, with a high historical status and artistic value, and is known by the historical community as the "source of the grottoes, the ancestor of the grottoes". The Big Buddha Grottoes that I see are built in the Tang Dynasty. It is the same as the most valuable Beiliang Grottoes in the Grottoes. The large murals painted in the north and south of the Grottoes are fresh, colorful and realistic. Walking forward, the 17 small caves on the left and upper side of the Big Buddha Grottoes have been in a natural stone cave state due to serious erosion. Some statues and murals still remain in the caves. The sculptures include the avatars of the Northern Wei Shifo, the statues of the Northern Zhou, the Bodhisattva and the Tang Sakya. The murals are not preserved much, but they overlap, some up to 5 layers, showing the remaining paintings of Beiliang, Northern Wei, Tang and other paintings in the stripped heavy murals, of which Beiliang murals, Bodhisattvas like straight nose, big eyes, thick lips, white nose bridge, treasure crown curls, upper body half naked, waist wrapped long skirt, early murals in the Western Region are obvious. It is beautiful and simple.
