Wollongong Botanical Gardens is about an hour's drive from Sydney and is on the way to Mount Keira. It is very hidden and so often overlooked. The Botanical Garden was opened in 1970 and covers an area of about 20 hectares. The garden is beautifully landscaped and has a number of themed gardens including rose garden, herb garden, woodland garden, rhododendron river bank, succulent garden, tropical rainforest and other gardens. The botanical garden has a Japanese-style wooden bridge. This is a gift from Kawasaki, Japan, a friendly city in Wolonggang. It is well worth a visit.
