The Black Church

The "Black Church" is an ancient building known throughout the country. It is the largest Catholic church in Transylvania. It was built in the 1st century and has a late Gothic architectural style. It was burned in 1689 and the stone walls were blackened. After reconstruction, the exterior walls were still black, and the "Black Church" was named. The church contains a collection of ancient oriental tapestries and large pipe organ built in the second half of the 19th century, which is still available today.

Right in the heart of the old town, landmark buildings can be seen at a glance from Tampa Hill and White Tower. The church looks pretty good too, with a beautiful bell tower, but we just caught up with the maintenance when we went and couldn't get inside to visit. Off-season travel is really easy to catch up with the correction, at least 2 churches are under maintenance. The early spring is still a bit cold, there is a sense of depression, behind the church is a school, every day after class and lively.

The Black Church was founded in 1383 and lasted nearly 100 years. It was not completed until 1477. The church is 89 metres long, 38 metres wide and 65 metres high. It has a magnificent scale, well-proportioned structure, strong and beautiful, black walls and late Gothic architectural style. The name of the Black Church is related to the fire caused by a riot in 1689. There are many round holes in the outer wall, which were thought to be shot holes, which were specially made for repairing buildings. There are 119 Anatolia carpets from Turkey and a large pipe organ built in the second half of the 19th century. It is the second largest organ in the world. There are more than 4000 pipes. When we entered, the pipe organ was playing and sitting down to listen for a while.

Very ambitious! From the square came a strong visual impact, the overall black, bell ringing time can be heard throughout the city. After many vicissitudes of life, have been repaired many times, changed the main structure of a lot of stone, the nearby square is very good, looks like the most lively place in the city.

Located in the center of the city next to the Plaza, it looks very grand, but the interior decoration is quite simple and humble. I watched the huge organ and imagined how exciting the hymn would be.
