Yiyan Temple

Yiyan Temple is located in Lianxingshi Lane, Xintang Town, Zengcheng District, Guangzhou City. It is connected to the sea cave, one of the new eight scenic spots in Zengcheng. Connected to the entrance of the sea cave is a stone rock that is higher and larger than the entrance of the cave. There is a stone platform under the rock, which is like a temple. People use this natural temple platform to build the "Yiyan Temple". The temple and the cave are connected and interconnected, and visitors can enter and leave it without a lot of fun. According to historical records, Tianhou Temple and Yiyan Temple have always been built in Shixiang. The residents of Xintang Town not only believe in Buddhism, but also believe in folk beliefs such as Tianhou. The Yiyan Temple fell into disrepair and was destroyed in the 1960s. It was built by the villagers in the 1980s. In 2002, the Qunxing Village Committee handed over the temple to the Guangzhou Buddhist Association for management, and the monk Xincheng entered the temple as abbot. In November 2002, Zengcheng Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau approved it as a place for religious activities. At the beginning of 2003, the great monk Xincheng decided to rebuild Yiyan Temple. With the support and cooperation of all Buddhist disciples and believers from all directions, a number of buildings such as Daxiong Hall, Haihui Building and Gongde Hall were successively built. At present, Yiyan Temple has both Buddhist temples such as Daxiong Hall and other folk temples such as Tianhou Temple, Sixty Jiazi Temple, Guandiji, Shuaifu, etc., which can meet the requirements of religious activities of the majority of residents. The temple also retains the ancient sea relics of Shixiang, and excavated the release pond.
