Well cared for old pass
I was cycling around Kamakura and came upon this old Kiridoshi (man-made) pass. It is paved and open and well used and cared for, so quite unlike some of the other Kiridoshi. Nonetheless, it is very s...
It seems that the name was given because the turtle of Kenchoji returns the turtle on a very steep slope. It is one of the 7 through Kamakura Kiri. It is easier to enter this slope from the Kenchoji side. If you enter from the direction of Kamakura Station and pass through the direction of Kita Kamakura, the slope is steep.
Kamakura was surrounded by mountains and was in a very protective terrain during the war, but it is one of the seven kiritsuri (slops). It's paved, but it's pretty tough. There are famous temples such as Chojuji Temple (the grave of Takauji Ashikaga), Iwafune Jizo-do, and Kenchoji Temple in the vicinity, so please go on a sunny day. It's fun.
It is a cut-off connecting Yamanouchi, where Kenchoji Temple is located, and the center of Kamakura, and it is a road built as a smooth commerce and defense. It's a slightly steep slope, but it's suitable for walking courses connecting Kamakura and Kita Kamakura, such as Jizo Bodhisattva is placed in the middle of the road covered with trees 々. The road is paved and has a width that can be passed by small cars, but the traffic was closed and there was a concrete block on the way.
One of Kamakura Kiri Dori street. From Choju Ji Temple to Yakuo Ji Temple
Original Text
It is one of the Kamakura Kiridori. It is a small diameter to get off at Kita-Kamakura and go through Chojuji Temple to Ogigadani. It is currently paved, but it retains the atmosphere of Kiridori. It feels good because it is a windy path.
