The statue of Azumi Tsurumari (Kaku-san) is in front of Mito City Daini Junior High School. Azumi Tsurumari is a Confucian scholar in the mid Edo period. He was a person who made remarkable achievements in compiling the history of Dai Nippon. It is said that he became a model of Mito Komon no Kaku, who is familiar on TV.
