    Montbel up and running after the drought

    Beautiful lake, water level well below full after last year's drought, but it's still ok for swimming and boating. Good walking route around lake, and decent food outlets at Léran, Montbel and Le Coin...

    I'd rather swim here than in the Mediterranean.

    Free parking. Shade under trees. Clean water with a fabulous backdrop of trees, sky and the Pyrenees. We went late morning. Hired a pedalo for 4 people, with a mini slide on it, so grandchildren age...
