The tomb of Cyrus the Great, the founder of the Persian Empire, was built in 530 BC in the former capital of Pasargard, 70 kilometers from Persianpolis. The tomb was built with huge stones and a rectangular tomb room was built on six-story ladder-style pedestals. Originally the tomb surrounded by a circle of boulders, has been removed, only the tomb alone on the field.
