The Bozzetti Museum in Petra Santa was founded in 1984 to showcase sculpture. Since the 14th century, centuries of tradition have linked the town of Petra Santa to the art of marble. Michelangelo in the 16th century came here to buy marble. Later, the Marble Workshop activities were attended by artistic bronze foundries and mosaics, stylists and clay expanders. In recent years, thanks to the special skills and proficiency of local craftsmen, the symbiotic relationship of this craft art has remained very active and continues to develop, and today’s followers of ancient traditions have attracted sculptors from around the world. Located in a 16th-century monastery, the Bozzetti Museum aims to illustrate the creation and realization of marble and bronze art to showcase the enduring value of generations of artists and their works.
