We were brought here by our automatic guide, who suggested a museum tour. Very interesting gem tour: how they were formed, different types and how they were mined. The guide was very friendly and helpful. At the end of the tour we were taken around their shop - lots of lovely jewels. They made a custom-designed earring for me in one day - beautifully crafted. FYI gemstones can be authenticated at the World Trade Center in Colombo (the 4-story gemstone and jewelry exchange - nominally charged for certification - ensuring it is government service). If possible, we recommend doing so before submitting. Luckily, the gems we bought from this store are real.
