I visited the place after I finished working. Last year I passed high street in this town, but I didn't realise this place near the high street. This facility is former school in Meiji peroid. The ar...
An elementary school with pseudo-Western architecture in the early Meiji era. I felt the spirit of the Meiji era when it was built by local volunteers for children. Worth a look. The cityscape and buildings were wonderful, and the time stopped for a while. For some reason, an old-shaped post was on display.
The children at that time gathered here to study. The learning desks and books at that time are also on display. I also miss myself studying in such a place.
You can see the history of education in Uwajima. Especially in the Meiji period, it is a must-see.

It is a school in the early Meiji period, along with Kaichi Elementary School in Matsumoto. The exhibition of classrooms, textbooks, and children's clothes from the Meiji era is interesting. The tomb of the local master Keisaku Ninomiya was behind the school, and I happened to be able to visit the tomb. Next to it was a rare Terakoya that reminds me of the Edo period. I've seen the current Terakoya in India, but I've never seen a real Japanese Terakoya.
A school building opened by donations of townspeople at that time

A pseudo-Western-style school building, which is rare at that time. There are many exhibits, and the classroom at that time remains as it was at that time. If you make a reservation a week in advance, you could experience a simulated class. There were textbooks after the war, and I was able to know the transition of textbooks. It was interesting that the interview with the person who donated the textbook was left in colloquial language.
