The Gothic Cathedral left over from the Middle Ages is one of the most perfect Gothic buildings in Barcelona. It has tall pillars and Gothic windows. The appearance of the church is very simple, and the doors of the church are also carved with the images of two strongmen.
The Cathedral of Notre Dame of the Sea is located in the eastern part of the Gothic District. It is the most perfect Gothic building in Barcelona. It maintains a pure Catalonian Gothic style with a sacred fire nearby. Opening hours: Monday to Saturday: 9.00 - 13.30, 16.30 - 20.00. Sundays and holidays: 10.00-13.30, 16.30-20.00. Tickets: Most of the time is free, depending on the situation.
The old city must go to scenic spots, typical Gothic architecture, which is slightly simpler than other churches. You can take 10 minutes to see it.
This elegant 14th-century church will take your breath away. Don’t be put off by the somewhat austere exterior – the basilica inside is similarly sparse but simply spellbinding. The church is constructed in the Catalan Gothic style; a three-nave structure with the side naves half the width of the central one. Aim to visit on a Sunday – if you’re lucky, you might catch a wedding ceremony being performed inside. There are also concerts that take place here regularly (check the schedule in advance for full details).
Spain, Barcelona... The Church of the Virgin Mary. Tickets are 7 euros per seat.
A beautiful example of gothic architecture. This basilica is truly a testament to the ingenuity of the engineers. The way the medieval neighborhood grew up around the church almost makes it feel constrained on the outside. But through the masterful design it is spacious and filled with light once you enter
Notre Dame Maria Church is also called Notre Dame of the Sea Church. Although it is not as exquisite as the Cathedral of Barcelona, it has fewer tourists and can appreciate the beauty of architecture and experience the charm of religion. There is also a small restaurant outside the church, where you can drink coffee and see the praise of street artists. I met a group of volunteers at the entrance to collect money for the hospital. I wanted to shoot some videos with tourists. Although a little afraid of meeting cheaters and thieves, but still did not refuse enthusiastic volunteers. It was an interesting experience.
Probably the most popular one in Barcelona due to the book written about it. From the outside it look just average, but once you enter you realize of its beauty. Also you can find some religious music or live music inside as well as a quiet and relaxing place (Barcelona has few places like this one)
Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar is a church located in the heart of El Born that dates back to the 14th century. Even though it's more than 700 years old, the church is still active to this day. It's a great place to stop by, spend a while and appreciate the beautiful gothic architecture.
Be sure to read Cathedral of the Sea Cathedral of the Sea is a historical novel by Spanish author Ildefonso Falcones. The action takes place in 14th century Barcelona at the height of the Inquisition, with the construction of Santa Maria del Mar serving as background to the story.
