Obertraun is surrounded by mountains and rivers, one side is the picturesque Hallstatt Lake, and the other is the majestic Dachstein peak. Obertraun and Hallstatt are across the lake, 5 Fingers It is one of the top ten viewing platforms in the world, also called the "balcony of the Alps", with beautiful and pleasant scenery.
The platform is relatively high, so it feels good to see the scenery from above, and the scenery below is unobstructed. Those European-style houses look like small houses in fairy tales, very cute and cartoon.
Five Fingers Observatory Transportation: Take 543 on Traun to the lower station of the cable car. You can take the first cable car to the ice cave. The end of the second cable car can be reached by walking for about 20 minutes.
The scenery is greatly affected by the weather. We went to catch up with a cloudy day. The scenery was not beautiful, not as good as the top of St Gilgen and the Winter Mountain in Salzburg. But I believe it must be great on sunny days!
The total cost of the two cable cars is about 30 Euros, which is poor cost performance and too expensive!
Dachstein mountain is the highest mountain in the Hallstatt around lake, 2995 meters high above sea level, on the hill there is a "finger" form the viewing platform, visitors can see the mountains and rivers landscape, field of vision is open, you can see the distant snow-capped mountains, visitors can take a cable car to the top of the mountain. Climbing process is also a wonderful journey, tourists can according to their own physical condition, choose the mountain path.
The "5-Fingers" is a nice metal construction and viewing platform about 25 minutes' walk and 400meter height. You catch Hallstate heritage view from the mountain either alone or via group which is so fantastic.
The viewing platform is less than a 20-minute walk from the Krippenstein Station of the Dachstein cable car line.
