Bhaktapur Durbar Square Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Bhaktapur’s stunning royal architecture
We had the pleasure of stopping by Bhaktapur Durbar Square and wandering through this beautiful historical district.
These buildings and temples have been so well preserved; it’s an incredible feat, and a testament to the locals’ appreciation of their royal roots here. It truly feels as if you’re walking amongst them in the time period they were occupied by royalty, which was around 14th century!
A lot of appreciation and respect towards the government and locals who value these structures so much, and take pride in their ancestors work to such an extent. #bhaktapur #Nepal #architecture

Nepals Pottery Square
is located on the south side of Bad Dumbard Square and is one of its important components. The square has a thousand years of history, hand-made ceramics since ancient times, adhering to traditional crafts.
In a remote alley in the square, there is a kiln still in use today. These clay pots used to be used for sacrifices in the past, but they are now commonly used in people's lives. It is reported that most of the pottery tanks in Nepal originate from this.
When everyone wanders around Bad Dumbard Square, you may wish to come here to see you.

Pottery Square (Talako Tole) Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The Pottery Square can be reached from Badgund Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square or from the Lions Gate along the west side of the road leading to the city.
This square has two small temples, the solid brick structure of the Vishnu Temple and the double-roofed Jeth Ganesh Temple in the center of the square. The latter showed people a long history of pottery around the square a rich potter who donated the temple in 1646, and today the priests of the temple still originate from the pottery caste.
There is a row of clay warehouses and pottery wheels on the south side of the square. People often place pots on the square (and other parts of the city) to dry. After the banker harvests in October each year, this is also the tourist season, and the pots on the square will be replaced by piles of rice. There is a traditional, mud-structured kiln in an alley in the south.
I met a special little master here and learned how to make pottery. He said that it is not particularly good in English: probably means that I am a Chinese teacher, hahaha. After the whole process was carefully completed, although the process was muddy and the communication was not smooth, we had the international body language, and finally succeeded in pinching a small bottle, the first time in life to make pottery.
The little master saw that I really loved it. I wanted to give the pottery to me, but I was too big to take it. He sent me a little rabbit as a gift, and now I still have a collection in my bookshelf.
The pottery capital is another title owned by Badgau. Most people in the city will have this craft, and the craftsmanship of pottery for men, women and children has been passed down for thousands of years. On the pottery square at the southern end of Badgren, a traditional family based on traditional pottery techniques appeared on the square about 1300 years ago. Nowadays, the pottery with different colors and shapes is spread all the way, and it is very spectacular. Facing the sun, the elderly craftsmen sit under the eaves and hand out the blanks of the pottery, or put a variety of patterns on the semi-finished pottery bowls. The onlookers stay for a long time, and they can't affect his concentration.
Must get up early in Badge, because the charm of Badgren is at 4 or 5 in the morning. Every morning, women who believe in Hinduism can walk on the streets with copper plates. The copper plates are filled with petals, rice, yogurt and various sweets, and they are dedicated to the gods in the temple. Shake the bell to tell the gods. In Badgren, there are various forms of prayer in addition to the daily compulsory service. Before dawn, find a temple to climb to the highest point, where you wait for the sunrise, watch the sun rise slowly, watch the prayers going to the square temple, watch the busy people in the market, and sunlit the entire Baddegang. Great view. In the bells of the prayers of the believers, the bells of the gods, and the muttering prayers, we prayed for a new day.
The Nanee Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Bhaktapur The Nanee, the stunning night scenery in the ancient city of Bhaktapur.
The Nanee in Bhaktapur, a stunning boutique art hotel in the ancient city of Badagang, where the beautiful rooftop at night melts the tenderness of Bhaktapur.
On the second day in Nepal, after coming down from Chandragiri Hills, I arrived in Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon, this ancient city that rose in the 12th century, is simple and ancient. I stayed at The Nanee, a newly opened hotel not far from Durbar Square. The entrance is inconspicuous on the street, but after entering, the courtyard-style design blends with the red brick and wooden architecture of Nepal, with a modern design and artistic sense. The room I stayed in was a small duplex with a loft, next to an old dilapidated house, which did not clash with The Nanee hotel at all. The comfortable big bed, bathtub, wooden staircase chandelier, toiletries, and full of quality of life.
It's worth mentioning the cuisine here. We had Nepalese food for lunch and Western food for dinner. They were authentic and delicious. Having a cup of coffee was extremely comfortable.
Although there are not many guest rooms, they are all very exquisite. From the details of the room supplies, it can be seen that the hotel has spent a lot of effort in improving the comfort. It is a very light luxury hotel. In the afternoon, wandering in the ancient city, at dusk, the lights on the rooftop terrace light up, intoxicated by the night of Bakhtapur ancient city, feeling like you are the brightest star in the night sky. You can have a rooftop party, which is even more comfortable.
This hotel has a separate courtyard, next to a centuries-old well. The combination of historical sediment and modern hotel injects new ideas into the ancient city and soothes travelers. The gentle embrace of the night wraps around me as I soak in a bathtub. The two-hour time difference allows me to fall asleep at just the right time.
In the morning, the slanting sunlight shone through the curtains and woke me up. I am a hurried pedestrian, and after breakfast, I will head to Pokhara. I believe that this warm hotel, courtyard, restaurant, terrace, and room style will remain in my memory. I love them all. If you come to Bardagang, it is definitely worth recommending.
Hotel Heritage Malla Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Go to the historic site to eat Nepalese dishes. The hotel heritage malla is a three-storey building with a restaurant on the first floor and rooms on the second and third floors. The restaurant specializes in Nepalese cuisine. The local diet in Nepal is mainly rice, curry, fried rice, fried noodles, pizza, oysters, and momo is steamed dumplings. A standard Nepalese meal consists of a bowl of unrecognized soup, rice and curry-flavored vegetables. And meat pieces. Locals like to eat pizza, potatoes, greens and lamb, and love to drink milk and tea. Each person has a plate for dinner and a staple food and vegetables.
In Nepali, "Daal" is the bean and "Bhaat" is the rice. Deal Bhaat is on the plate with rice and a few side dishes. There is also a bowl of bean soup. When you taste it, pour the soup on the rice and mix it with the rice. The main side dishes include salad, vegetable (Tarkari), spinach (Sag), pickles (Achar), and sometimes shortbread (Papad or Papadam). DaalBhaat is characterized by a large amount of weight, and it is possible to continue to add rice, soup, and vegetables until the guests are full. Daal Bhaat is not necessarily all vegetarian. A small dish of chicken or lamb is added to the above dishes, but the meat cannot be eaten for free. This is a meal that Nepalese people can't do every day. Many Nepalese people say that they don't feel full when they don't eat Daal Bhaat!
Be sure to eat Nepalese yogurt after a meal. The taste is very mellow, a bit like Tibetan yak yogurt.
