An ultimate 9-day guide to Busan and its surroundings with my bestie — traveler post in Daegu

An ultimate 9-day guide to Busan and its surroundings with my bestie

After half a month of planning, my 9-day Busan trip with my bestie finally came true. Riding the crystal cable car to see the sea, exploring ancient Hanok villages, visiting the ancient Silla city, and enjoying seafood and BBQ – the whole trip was incredibly relaxing! Pre-trip preparation: Visa: Residents in Shanghai can apply for a visa themselves, but appointments now need to be made in advance on the official website. Slots for the next two weeks open every Monday. South Korea uses e-visas, so you'll need to print out your visa after it's issued and bring it with you when you depart. Entry: Fill out the electronic arrival card three days in advance. Paper versions are also distributed on the plane. Day 1: Shanghai ✈️ Daegu Arrived in Daegu in the afternoon. Took a taxi to the hotel, dropped off luggage, and went out to find food. Food: Geusong Galbi Accommodation: Toyoko Inn Daegu Dongseong-ro Day 2: Daegu 🚌 Jeonju (3 hours) Daegu has Dongdaegu and Seodaegu stations. We bought high-speed bus tickets for Seodaegu in advance; tickets can also be purchased at self-service machines at the station. Jeonju's attractions are concentrated and can be covered in half a day. Walk to Hanok Village. Gyeonggijeon Shrine admission is 3,000 won. Visit Jeonju Jeondong Catholic Church and Pungnammun Gate. The Observatory Cafe offers panoramic views of the Hanok village. Food: Jeonju traditional bibimbap (Gung-eon-bang), PNB Chocolate Pie Accommodation: Jeonju Gloucester Hotel Day 3: Jeonju 🚌 Busan (3 hours) It was rainy, so we found an old-fashioned cafe for brunch. Cafe: 1938 Mansion Our Busan hotel was very close to the beach (sea view room), 600 meters from Haeundae subway station. Accommodation: Toyoko Inn Busan Haeundae 2 Day 4: Gyeongju day trip Gyeongju's attractions are quite spread out. We booked a day tour with a Chinese-speaking guide through a certain travel platform. Itinerary: Bulguksa Temple, Yangdong Folk Village, Daereungwon Tomb Complex, Hwanglidan-gil Street, Woljeonggyo Bridge, Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond (If you go by yourself, you can buy bus tickets at Haeundae Intercity Bus Terminal). Food: Gyeongju bread, Korean medicinal soup Day 5: Busan There are several Busan Pass options. We bought the Big3 e-card for 188 RMB. The physical card can be topped up and used as a transportation card. X the Sky Observatory (Busan Pass accepted). Visit the tallest Starbucks in East Asia. Lunch: Yulling (Michelin-starred, booked one month in advance on Catch Table) Walk to Mipo Sky Capsule Station. Mipo Station → Cheongsapo is the best route (30 minutes). Cheongsapo is known as "Little Kamakura," with beautiful coastal trains and red and white lighthouses. Tips: Tickets for a specific week open on Tuesday at 7 AM KST, four weeks before the boarding date. A 2-person capsule costs 50,000 won. Shinsegae Department Store: Get a membership card on B1 for a 5% discount and two drink coupons. Day 6: Ulsan (20 minutes by KTX) Today's Seomyeon hotel is not far from the subway station, a 500-meter walk to Lotte Duty Free. High-speed rail tickets can be bought in advance on a certain travel platform or at the train station. Platform information is displayed on the large screen 15 minutes before departure. There is no security check to enter the station and no ticket check to board the train. Pyeongsan Bookstore Took a taxi 5 kilometers to Tongdosa Temple. Free temple food is served at 11:30 AM. In the afternoon, returned to Busan to explore Nampo-dong BIFF Square. In the evening, ate seafood at Jagalchi Market. Stall 218's owner was very nice. Busan Tower night view (Busan Pass accepted). Gwangalli Bridge beach night view. There's a drone show on Saturday nights at 8 PM and 10 PM. Accommodation: Dwelling Hotel Seomyeon Central Day 7: Busan Songdo Marine Cable Car (Busan Pass accepted). Yonggung Suspension Bridge on the island costs 1,000 won for admission. Gamcheon Culture Village. Visit the Little Prince's World. It's very photogenic when the weather is good. 192 Steps. There's a free mini cable car for those with mobility issues. Day 8: Busan 🚞 Daegu (45 minutes by KTX) The area near the hotel is great for exploring: Gyesan Catholic Church, First Presbyterian Church, Kim Gwang-seok Street. Accommodation: Toyoko Inn Daegu Dongseong-ro Day 9: Daegu ✈️ Shanghai Hanok Starbucks, Daegu Yangnyeongsi Museum of Oriental Medicine (closed on Mondays). Hyundai Department Store is near the hotel, and Shinsegae Department Store is at Daegu Station.

A fairytale-like cafe where cherry blossoms bloom the earliest🫧. — traveler post in Daegu

A fairytale-like cafe where cherry blossoms bloom the earliest🫧.

Last spring, on my way up after viewing the magnolias, photographer Gom reached out and suggested I check out the cherry blossoms here too—which is how I got to see Daegu's beautiful blooms. At Cafe Samdeok, a renovated house cafe in Daegu, the cherry blossoms start budding right about now, making it one of the earliest spots to catch them. Whether you're on the first or second floor, indoors or out on the rooftop, the blossoms look absolutely gorgeous. If you happen to be in Daegu around this time of year, this is definitely a must-visit spot. I just heard that the buds started popping up two days ago, so I'm sharing this with you all. Save this post and go check it out!🌸💗 🌸 Cafe Samdeok 📍 64 Dalgubeol-daero 447-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu 🕰️ 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Closed on Mondays) 🚘 Use a nearby public parking lot 📷 25.03.25

A collection of pure white magnolia spots you should check out starting this weekend. — traveler post in Daegu

A collection of pure white magnolia spots you should check out starting this weekend.

Before the cherry blossoms bloom, you know you have to get your fill of those fluffy "shrimp chip" magnolias, right? With the warm spring weather, magnolias have already started blooming in the Gyeongsang region. Here are some of the best magnolia spots to visit from this weekend through next week! (1-3) Changwon Memorial Tower (4-5) Gimhae Magnolia Forest (6-7) Cafe Eunkyo, Gimhae (8-9) Cheongna Hill, Daegu (10-11) Momos Coffee Main Store, Busan As of March 19th, the magnolias at Changwon Memorial Tower, Gimhae Magnolia Forest, and Cafe Eunkyo have bloomed more than expected, so they should be at their absolute peak this weekend. Meanwhile, Momos Coffee in Busan is already in full bloom, so you'd better hurry! Also, the buds at Cheongna Hill in Daegu are just starting to pop up! I actually visited all five of these places in one go on March 25th last year. If you're heading out this weekend, it's a totally doable day-trip itinerary, even if you skip Cheongna Hill since it's blooming a bit late! These are my all-time favorite magnolia spots that I definitely want to revisit next year, as I was so bummed I missed them at their 100% peak last time. If you don't have any plans this weekend, go crush this magnolia spot list for me🤍 Follow @halfmoon__s2 for gorgeous flower spots and travel tips from every corner of Korea!

On October 25th, when autumn is in full swing, a festival created in collaboration with residents kicked off at Seondol Park and Seondol Madang Park in Daegu! From various activities and busking performances to a used bookstore and market for recycling, food, and a picnic zone where you can enjoy it all. Celebrate this fall with the Dalseo Eoseuk Eco-Tourism Festival, a city park experience. 🍂 🍀Dalseo Eoseuk ESG Eco-Tourism Festival 🗓️Sat., Oct. 25, 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM 📍Daegu Dalseo-gu Seondol Park and Seondol Madang Park 💵Free admission

A brunch spot with a great atmosphere and even better taste, Aritsu. — traveler post in Daegu

A brunch spot with a great atmosphere and even better taste, Aritsu.

On the last day of my trip to Daegu, I went to have brunch and fell in love with this cafe, 'Aritsu,' which made me want to visit Daegu again. A local recommended their croissant, so I ordered a croissant and a basil baguette sandwich. The croissant, filled with ice cream and lotus, was the best croffle dessert I've ever had, and the baguette sandwich was so delicious that it moved me. The sandwiches are large and filling, yet none of them cost more than 10,000 won. The value for money is great, and the beautiful interior is a feast for the eyes, making it a place of complete satisfaction. You must visit at least once! 📍Aritsu · 47 Namseong-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu, 2nd floor · Open daily from 11:00 to 20:30 · Last order at 20:30
