Mt. Hakusan is a spiritual mountain that has been the object of faith since ancient times, and was opened in 717 AD by Taicho Daishi, a high priest in the Nara period. Historically, there were many temples and bases for practitioners as a mountain of "Shinbutsu Shugo" where Shinto and Buddhism were combined.
Once upon a time, when a full-fledged hiking trail (Zenjodo and Zenjodo) to Mt. Haku was built, a huge temple was built as a base at each trailhead.
