Looking for that perfect Scottish Highlands escape? 🏴🌧️ Pitlochry checks all the boxes with fairytale castles, world-class chippy, and lush green scenery (even when the skies are moody and gray). Here’s how to squeeze the best out of a day in this charming Highland town.

Top Spots to Visit

1. Chippy Ardchoille Fish and Chip Cafe (142 Atholl Road, Pitlochry PH16 5AG) – Start your Pitlochry adventure with a classic: crispy fish and chips from this beloved local spot. The portions are generous, and nothing hits better on a rainy day!

2. Blair Castle & Gardens (Blair Atholl, Pitlochry PH18 5TL) – This striking white castle stands out, even under a cloudy sky, surrounded by rolling lawns and lush trees. Perfect for those “outdoor cultural landscape” shots. Note: The castle is usually open in season, so check dates before arriving (usually closed Feb-March).

3. Blair Castle Caravan Park (Blair Atholl, Pitlochry PH18 5SR) – Next door to the castle, find this peaceful caravan park, offering walking trails and green grass for days. Great if you want to slow down and enjoy Scotland’s nature up-close.

Travel Hacks:
– Pitlochry is super walkable. Bring a rain jacket — clouds are basically part of the Highland experience.
– If the castle is closed, just strolling the grounds nearby or photographing the dramatic architecture in gray weather is still worth it.

Pitlochry Essentials:
Getting There: Pitlochry is well connected by train from Edinburgh or Inverness.
Eat: Don’t skip the local fish and chips!
When to Go: Pack for rain, year-round.
Bring cash for small cafes.

Take note: Most stores closing at 5pm. A few handful is open till 9/10/11pm
