Cijin Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Weekend getaway to sunny Cijin Island
#weekendgetaways A perfect day trip for a weekend getaway if you are ever in the city of Kaohsiung
Getting There - Take the MRT to Sizhiwan Station. Once out of the station, follow the signs that say ferry port which takes you on a 350m walk. The ferry ride takes only 5 minutes to get to the island. Both MRT and ferry ride accepts EasyCard for travel convenience.
Attractions - Beaches, Cijin Tunnel of Stars, Lighthouse, Fort Ruins, Food street, Sunset view, Biking Trails, Fishing Spots, Surfing
Food & Restaurants - Variety of Taiwanese street food selling in stalls and roadside, Seafood, Sunset Bar
An island with many attraction spots apart from the sandy beaches and tranquil waves, this is what makes Cijin Island such a unique place. Instagrammable opportunities abundant all around.
What I did was going to the lighthouse first which you can see from afar. On the way, passby a beautiful tunnel which was recently refurbished and you will come across a magnificent view of the waves hitting along the rocks. After a hike atop quite a number of stairs (not for the faint hearted), you will reach the lighthouse where there is a coffee shop for you to take a rest if needed.
After that, follow the path to the Cijin fort where you can see the remaining remnants. Acrophobias beware as the fort is quite tall in height.
Feeling tired? Follow a short path down to the beaches and rest at the local sunset bar where as the name implies, you can view the daily sunset atop the sea and beach. Perfect ending.

Cijin Island: The Perfect Day Trip
Escape the bustling city of Kaohsiung and venture into the serene beauty of Cijin Island, a hidden gem just a short ferry ride away. With its pristine beaches, historic landmarks, and mouthwatering seafood, Cijin Island offers a perfect day trip for travelers seeking a tranquil respite and a taste of authentic Taiwanese culture.
Board the ferry from the Kaohsiung Harbor, and in just a few minutes, you'll find yourself transported to a different world on Cijin Island. As you step off the boat, the refreshing sea breeze welcomes you, and you'll instantly feel the relaxed atmosphere wash over you.
Start your day by strolling along Cijin's stunning coastline. The island boasts several beautiful beaches, including the popular Cijin Beach, where you can sink your toes into soft golden sands and take a dip in the clear waters of the Taiwan Strait. If you're feeling adventurous, rent a bicycle and pedal along the scenic bike path that hugs the coastline, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and Kaohsiung's skyline in the distance.
Cijin Island is also known for its rich history, and a visit to the Cijin Fort is a must. This historic fort was built during the Qing Dynasty and played a significant role in defending against pirates and foreign invaders. Explore the fort's well-preserved walls and cannons, and don't forget to climb to the top for a panoramic view of the island.
For a cultural experience, head to the Cijin Old Street, a bustling alleyway lined with shops and street food vendors. Try some of Taiwan's most famous delicacies, such as freshly grilled squid, steamed buns filled with juicy pork, and the renowned "iron eggs" – marinated quail eggs with a unique flavor that will leave you craving for more.
As the sun begins to set, make your way to Cijin's famous Rainbow Church, also known as the Cijin Shell Church. This stunning structure, adorned with colorful seashells, glows with a kaleidoscope of colors during the golden hour. Capture this mesmerizing sight for a truly unforgettable memory.
End your day trip on Cijin Island with a seafood feast at one of the island's many seafood restaurants. Indulge in the freshest catches of the day, from succulent grilled fish and buttery crab to flavorful shrimp dishes, all prepared in traditional Taiwanese style.
As you board the ferry back to Kaohsiung, take a moment to reflect on the beauty and tranquility of Cijin Island. The island's serene beaches, historic landmarks, delectable cuisine, and warm hospitality will leave you with cherished memories of the perfect day trip from Kaohsiung, and perhaps even a yearning to return and explore more of Taiwan's hidden treasures. #beachlife#mytripvlog #awesomepic #summervacation #Taiwan
Kaohsiung - Cijin
Make a trip down to Cijin since we are in Kaohsiung. You won’t regret heading to Cijin. The locals and very friendly, there are lots of food stalls around and it is very affordable. We explore Cijin by renting their bicycle operated by electricity. Would recommend renting their bicycle so you can explore further and more. But some areas will require walking which includes Cihou Lighthouse as you will need to walk up the slope. Pretty tiring but think the view is worth it.#kaohsiung #cijin

Beyond imagination , what to do in Taiwan - pier 2 Art Khaoshiung
The space for art to be shown to the world. The place fits for the big pieces of arts where no other place can. I would recommend the visitor to rise a bike and ride around this place. Very easy to access by public transport from the city center of Kaohsiung Taiwan.
Great place to let the children run wild, release their imaginations who knows the next piece of art show in this pier could be theirs.🛤️

The Pier-2 Art Centre in Kaohsiung-Taiwan
The Pier-2 Art Centre is a ‘must visit place’ to go in Kaohsiung Taiwan if you wanna see a unique open art space. It was an abandoned warehouse that later has already became Kaohsiung’s most popular cultural spot when a group of artist imparted their art creativity into this area.
Located in the basin no.3 of Kaohsiung Port, the space offers unique buildings and statues that you can explore for around two to three hours. You can also stop by to buy affordable souvenir from the souvenir shop and enjoy Taiwanese foods from the restaurant in this area.

InterContinental Kaohsiung Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
InterContinental Kaohsiung- Dinning
BL.T33 lobby bar on the first floor, SEEDS (all-day dining restaurant) SDelicatesse bakery, Zhanlu Chinese restaurant on the second floor.
Have our Dinner at SEEDS all-day dining restaurant on the first floor.
The restaurant staff is very friendly from the introduction of the meal, to the introduction of the type of white wine, they are patience and knowledgeable.
We ordered a filet mignon (medium rare) super tender, a duck breast (no fishy smell and the duck liver is super delicious), from the appetizer, bread to dessert, the overall taste is superb.
The suggested red wine, LABORIE and CRIOS to pair with our meals. Although the red wine is very you g in age but it is aromatic and smooth, which I did not expect.
By the way, you can enjoy unlimited plates of appetizers and desserts.
InterContinental Kaohsiung - Hotel Room
We stayed in a harbor view room, and we just saw the sunset when we checked in, it was beautiful!
The space was cleaned, but there was a small spot of dust on the floor behind the door. The room service brought DYSON to deal with it within five minutes, and cleaned the whole room again. And intimately introduce the smart butler "Xiao Meixi", which is a very fun smart interaction, which will make you smile occasionally.
When we went back to the room after dinner, the TURN-DOWN SERVICE was ready for us, and we really felt like going to sleep right away.
The Perfect Sleeper series of mattresses from Serta in the United States are too hard for me to sleep on, but my husband thinks it sleeps better, so it depends on personal preference.
It is worth mentioning that the bath is a soft water device, so after washing, both the hair and the body are very slippery.
In addition, the stocking town where the soap is placed is so beautiful that people love it
InterContinental Kaosiung - Buffet Breakfast
#newyearadventure #yearofrabbit
After a comfortable and quality sleep, my partner and I went to the first floor to have our breakfast.
Although it is overcrowded, fortunately there is still the last seat available for us.
Seafood pasta, seafood porridge, these freshly made dishes are very delicious. The restaurant is packed and the service staff are all busy, my order was wrongly served, I didn’t want to trouble the service staff to remake my order so I have their scallop seafood pasta, I’m not a pasta person but their scallop seafood pasta was delicious!
I have never touch the bread section during breakfast buffet, but my partner said that the croissants is amazingly delicious! Once I tired them, I ate 4 croissants in total! Even after checking out, I went to buy a few more of their croissants!

InterContinental Kaosiung - Club Lounge
The Happy Hour in the lounge club is very sincere with their food selections. There are fruits that are relatively rare in a hotel’s happy hour, especially strawberries
Today's dishes are perfect for paring with wine, butter stewed chicken, lotus rice dumpling, stir fry clams, beef short ribs, Bak Kut Teh and more!
Paired with InterContinental's specially selected wine list, it is very suitable!
In addition, I must greatly appreciate the manager of the executive lounge. After I peeled the lotus leaf of the rice dumplings, the manager unexpectedly appeared out of no where and handed me a wet tissue to clean my hands. This service is really tip top good.
