This skyscraper, built in 1958 on the site of an old bombed factory, was one of the first skyscrapers to abandon the old boxy shape. The skeleton was instead made to taper upwards, resembling the bow of a ship. Architectural historian Hasah-Uddin Khan has praised the buildings as one of the “few tall European buildings [to make] statements that added to the vocabulary of the skyscraper.”
