Penang National Park

Penang National Park is located in the northeast of the island. There are beautiful wild beaches, exciting trails through the jungle, and campsites for campers in the park. The park is easily accessed from George Town or Batu Ferringhi by public transport and there is a whole range of things to do for the whole family. Penang National Park is home to 143 animal species such as leopards, porcupines, mouse deer, sea otters, wild cats, slow lorises, viverras, etc. In coastal areas, sea turtles lay their eggs. There are 417 species of trees and plants in the protected area. The park is open every day from 07:30 to 18:00. The entrance is free. #createwithtrip #themepark

#penangtrip Considered the smallest national park in the world, I hiked all the way across in a little over an hour. It was hot so bring a lot of water and food as there isn't a place to buy any at turtle beach. There were monkeys, huge water monitor lizards, and newly hatched greenback sea turtles! This was definitely the highlight. I would recommend taking the long boat from turtle beach to monkey beach. It's worth the money and the stop. Here you can purchase food and drinks, and swim in the water. Best day in Penang so far!

It is so beautiful, peaceful and bursting with wild life. Go early to avoid big pager groups. Take water, there are no shops or vendors in the park. Register at the park office to receive a permit. There is no fee. Path starts paved and well maintained, down this is a few picnic benches, access to a small beach and a view of the sea. In the water by the rocks were water monitors. We saw monkeys before the entrance and at the picnic bench. The forest is beautiful but the beach is polluted. I would suggest to hike with a trekking pole for it can help with chasing monkeys and give a bit of stability. #maydaytrip #urbanexplorer #happylaborday

#malaysiatrip Nice park to get out of the city and into the jungle. The park is not super big, but you can hike around for a couple hours. There are trails connecting a couple beaches. Some of the trails can be very hilly and not super flat. Many roots and rocks and stuff. The beaches are not postcards, but there are nice. Costs 50 RM for foreigners and they give you a wristband to check. Happy hiking!
