Xizangminzu College

Tibet Nationalities University (Xizang Minzu University) is located in Xianyang, the ancient capital of the Weishui River. It is one of the first batch of units with the right to grant bachelor's degrees approved by the State Council. It will be selected as a college in the future, and the counterpart of East China Normal University will support colleges and universities, and it will be a national demonstration college for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. The school is the first institution of higher learning established for Tibet by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China after the peaceful liberation of Tibet. It was formerly known as "Tibet Public School" which was founded by the central government in 1957 and opened in September 1958. It was the first institution of higher learning for Tibet established by the Party Central Committee in the interior of the motherland after the peaceful liberation of Tibet. On April 30, 1965, with the approval of the State Council, it was renamed "Tibet Institute for Nationalities". On April 28, 2015, it was renamed "Tibet University for Nationalities" with the approval of the Ministry of Education. As of September 2017, the school has two campuses in Weicheng and Qinhan, and has a practical teaching base in Lhasa, with a campus area of 1,149 mu; it has 14 teaching units, 4 master's first-level disciplines, and 3 master's degree authorization points , 48 undergraduate majors; there are 977 faculty members and 10,042 students, including 537 graduate students, and 50% are Tibetan and other ethnic minority students.
