During the Osaka Natsu no Jin (the summer siege of Osaka), Harufusa Ohno's army rushed to Imai after burning Koriyama Castle, but the town was protected by the success of Gonbei Kawai. He was renamed Imanishi because he protected Imai from Kawai in the west by honoring his achievements by Ieyasu Tokugawa.
During the Sengoku period (period of Warring States), towns were created as a moat fortress city to fight Oda Nobunaga. Of the total number of about 1500 buildings, there are about 500 traditional buildings, and it is the most important traditional buildings preservation district in Japan, with 9 national important cultural properties, 3 prefectural designated cultural properties, and 5 city designated cultural properties. 2 It is certified as a Japanese heritage. Among them, the Imanishi family was designated as an important cultural property shortly after the war by the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo as a pioneer in preserving the national townscape.
