Guomoruo Former Residence

The Former Residence of Guo Moruo in Leshan is the place where the great writer Guo Moruo was born and lived in his youth. It is located at No. 315 Wenhao Street, Shawan District, with Suishan Mountain on its back and Moshui River in front. The name of the former residence was inscribed by Mr. Qi Gong. It is 150 kilometers away from Chengdu, 35 kilometers away from Leshan City, and 25 kilometers away from Emeishan City. The former residence was built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. It is a Chinese-style bungalow with a through-beam structure. It consists of four entrances, three wells and a backyard. There are 36 rooms of different sizes, a construction area of ​​1,108 square meters, and an area of ​​2,148 square meters. It has retained its ancient style to this day. In May 2006, it was approved by the State Council as a national key cultural relic protection unit.

Guo Moruo's former residence faces south and is backed by Suishan (the second peak of Mount Emei) and faces the Moshui River (the Dadu River). It consists of a three-story Chinese-style wooden courtyard and a small back garden. The former residence was built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty and was gradually expanded. When Guo Moruo's father Guo Chaopei ran the family business, it reached its current size, with a total of 36 rooms of various sizes. Today, it still maintains its ancient style. Guo Moruo's early poems "Early Rising", "Chaxi", "Village Scenery" and so on were written here.
