It is the entrance door to the old town of Palermo. The victory bow built in 1583, to celebrate the victory of Carlos I of Spain and his entry into the Kingdom of Sicilia.
It is a gate at the entrance to the old town of Palermo on Sicily. It is a gate built in 1535 to commemorate the conquest of Tunis by Charles 5 and the visit to the King of Sicily. Built in a typical Arab Norman style, it is spectacular because it is built in a completely different taste on the east and west sides of the gate.

These look to be like giant old city gates at the head of the main road through the town. They are quite grand and in great shape.
