Although it is mostly known as Tonnara Bordonaro, Palermo’s Tonnara Vergine Maria officially shares its name with the old fishing village that developed around the tuna fishing and its processing facility. For the past 70 years this magic place has been abandoned but recently has been used for cultural events and entertainment. I managed to visit #palermo as part of my cruise ship trip. It is located in the #sicily island of #italy and it shows a bit different culture and architecture than most of the other places of the country. There are many churches, Parthenon, palaces and many small squares. There are also nice shopping opportunities around the place. It is easily accessible because of the cruise ship terminal and the airport nearby. #happynewyear
