Meizhou Island is a small fishing town off the coast of Putian, Fujian province in China. To get there, you can take a bus or taxi from Putian city to the coast (shipping wharf), where you will need to board a ferry to get to the island. The town is very laid back, and the hotels are mostly family owned hostels. There are great Chinese restaurants, and you can also find some Western take out restaurants. The beaches are really beautiful, specifically the sunsets. Meizhou island is said to be the birthplace of the goddess Mazu, and her statue can be seen at the main temple on the island. There are plenty of beautiful temples to visit, and the architecture is also quite unique. Meizhou island is a perfect place to find some peace and quiet, outside of the city. The most worthwhile place to visit on Meizhou Island is the Ewei Divine Rock Garden, but the one place you must go is the Mazu Temple! It is only when you arrive at Meizhou Island that you realize Mazu is actually from Meizhou. The Mazu Temple here is the ancestral temple, the true place of origin! And we were very lucky that on the day we unknowingly chose to go to the Mazu Temple, it just so happened to be the 1036th anniversary of Mazu's ascension to immortality. Taoists from Taiwan and believers from all walks of life came to the Mazu Temple to pay their respects and offer incense. The scale of the event was something I had never seen before! I was shocked and truly felt the influence of Mazu culture! We watched the entire process of the event at the Mazu Temple. There were probably over a thousand participants. After the event, I saw them taking Mazu back and then starting a tour around the island. Later, we encountered them in many places and could really feel their devotion! After leaving the Mazu Temple, we went to the Tianhou Hometown, which is essentially a museum that introduces some of Mazu's life stories. If you have time, it's worth taking a look~

I actually found the vast sea from 'The Journey of Ling Bells' in Fujian~ It's just like the scene at the beginning where Ling Bells rides downhill on her bike and meets the male lead. Had breakfast with Qiu Shengjianbao, tasted good, just had to queue for a while, the vendor was busy with takeaway orders, somewhat indifferent to the customers in front of them. After breakfast, took a bus to the Putian Bus Station, where there is a bus to the Meizhou Island ferry terminal. The combined ferry and entrance ticket costs 125 yuan, with many ferry departures, so you can board quickly. Once on the island, you can walk directly to the Mazu Ancestral Temple, the most important attraction on the island. Or, like me, take the No. 1 bus directly to the end of the line, Goose Tail Marine Erosion Park. There are some natural landscapes there, among which Feiji Cave is the most famous. Walking along the seaside plank road, the scenery changes with every step, pleasing to the eye. After viewing the landscapes of the Marine Erosion Park, you can take a bus directly to the Mazu Ancestral Temple. Or, like me, ride a shared bicycle and pick a few spots on the mobile map to check out. In hindsight, those spots weren't worth the visit. It was more meaningful to ride around at will, observing the local life and roadside scenery. The island's transportation is convenient, with buses, sightseeing cars, and shared bicycles to choose from. The Ancestral Temple is more religious than scenic, with the majority of people going there to burn incense and pray. Today, I also saw believers from the Taiwan region coming here to worship, which was quite interesting. Watching their orderly procession, with drumming and blowing, was lively and attracted many people to take photos. After visiting the Ancestral Temple, continued to ride around the island, some seaside road sections have nice views. Spent a total of 5 hours on the island, overall, the most worthwhile places to visit are the Ancestral Temple and Goose Tail Marine Erosion Park, and the best experience is to ride an electric bike around at will. 🚉Transportation Tips: Before entering the island, take a bus; after entering, choose from buses, shared bicycles, or sightseeing cars. 👍Most Recommended: It's suggested to ride a shared bicycle around the island at will, freely and comfortably.

I went on a spontaneous trip with friends, and in the summer, the most popular activity is definitely playing in the water. Meizhou Island is very suitable for a few friends to bring their children. Since the island is not very large, the attractions are quite concentrated. Renting an electric bike and riding along the island's ring road, you can enjoy the incredibly beautiful seascape. The beaches and rocks merge with the sky. The beauty is overwhelming, and the most recommended places are: 1. Mazu Temple, where the incense is very strong, and there are many worshippers. Walking along, you can see the sea near the Mazu statue, which is incredibly blue and beautiful. Standing high, you can see very far, as shown in picture 1. 2. The Rainbow Road area also has a beautiful seascape, and many people stop to take photos along the way. Next to Rainbow Road is Meiyu and Chaoyin, which are also beach areas. The beach is full of small shells, and you can take children treasure hunting. The kids love it, and it's very interesting. 3. At the Goose Tail Divine Rock Park, there is a very popular photo spot, as shown in picture 2. We arrived too late, and the sun was about to set, but we finally managed to take a few photos in the last 10 minutes before it got dark. The location is not easy to find, so you might want to ask locals for directions. Pay attention to the signs nearby, or you might go the wrong way. Meizhou Island is still highly recommended for a visit. Many beaches are very clean, but you must book accommodation in advance, or you might end up in a subpar hotel. We made a last-minute decision and spent 650 yuan on a room that was quite poor, but accommodation on the island is quite expensive during the peak season. Seafood meals cost about 100 yuan per person, and this Fujian cuisine restaurant is highly recommended. The environment is nice, the food tastes good, and you must go early. They start at 11 am and stop accepting customers around 12:40 pm, so if you want to eat there, make sure to go early. They start serving again at 5:10 pm. The upstairs cafe is also a great place for photos. Having afternoon tea with a little cake and enjoying the air conditioning is very relaxing.

Sixth stop: Goose Tail Beach, Feiji Cave. After visiting the Mazu Temple and seeing there was still plenty of time, rode the electric scooter to the other end's Goose Tail Divine Rock Park. The beach here is a bit more crowded, with coffee shops, but didn't stay long, went straight to see Feiji Cave, this marine erosion landscape is quite special, just a bit far. The cave entrance was always crowded with people taking photos, didn't get a clean background shot, so headed back directly. Returned to the wharf around 5:30 pm, returned the electric scooter, took the ferry off the island, missed the sunset, if there's enough time, can stay overnight on the island, many scenic spots can be enjoyed slowly, not many tourists, beautiful scenery, personally feel it's a very worthwhile island to visit. It has a population of 40,000, with an average annual temperature of 21°C, making it especially suitable for tourism and vacations. The island's coastline stretches over 30 kilometers, including more than 20 kilometers of beaches and 5 kilometers of marine erosion rocks, creating a natural spectacle where mountains are surrounded by water, the sea extends beyond the mountains, and the mountains and sea are connected, blending into the horizon. Coupled with blue skies, white clouds, golden sands, and green forests and temples, it forms a romantic and picturesque coastal scenery and is a national 5A scenic spot.
