    Buddhist land

    Original Text

On the embankment along the Yamato River, there is a stone monument and an explanation board of the place where Buddhism was introduced. I remembered it when I was a junior high school student that "in the afternoon (552) Buddhism was introduced", but I never thought where it was first introduced. Nowadays, the idyllic countryside is spreading, but it used to be the center of Japan.

    A memorable place for Buddhism

    Original Text

It is a place where Buddhism was introduced in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. There was a monument to the place where Buddhism was introduced on the riverbed along the Yamato River. In the past, there was a dock where ships from the continent arrived back up the Yamato River from Osaka (Nambatsu), and there was the center of the Yamato imperial court a little north of here. It is said that during the time of Emperor Kinmei of the 29th Emperor, an envoy from Baekje went back to the Yamato River and landed here to convey Buddhism. At that time, Buddhism was also a new foreign god ...

A place where the place of Buddhism in Sakurai City is recorded. Buddhism was introduced from Baekje at that time in 552. The cherry blossom season seems to be beautiful, so I would like to go there next time.

It is said that the envoy of Seimei-o of Baekje passed down Buddhism in 552.

Go to Sakurai Station and follow the mountainside road. From the station front, the sidewalk is embedded with tiles indicating the mountainside road, and head north without getting lost. Eventually, I encountered the Hatsuse River, which is the upper reaches of the Yamato River, but there is a large stone monument of 3.8m height in Kanaya Riverbed Park. It is also the end point where the envoy went back from Osaka Bay to Baekje via the Yamato River, and I think the envoy arrived here. The mountainside road and Hatsuse Kaido are connected from this place.

    Monument

    Original Text

It is under the cherry blossom tree. The season when the cherry blossoms bloom is very beautiful. It seems that it is the place where it was introduced because it will come here when you climb the Yamato River. I feel that it seems a little impossible.
