Unfortunately not a welcoming parish. I am a catholic who recently moved nearby. I contacted Father Greg Trythall to ask to baptise my daughter at St Mary’s as we live less than 5km away and I thought it looked like a beautiful church. I was politely told that we were not welcome as we were not from Williamstown itself, and that I should contact another church. At first I was shocked, but since then have spoken to my local mothers group to find that this response was sadly quite common. Not very Christian like at all. Very sad, as I have previously been part of a Parish much further away from where I lived in Melbourne suburbs, and have always been welcome with open arms.
