On the way from Cancun to Chichen Itza, you pass through a small town, Valladolid.
Tourists usually stop at the town square, especially those who travel with a group. This town is probably a must-stop when returning.
Across the square is the Cathedral of San Gervasio. As far as Western civilization and believers of God are concerned, this is a famous cathedral with a long history.
This church has the style of Spanish Baroque. It was first built in 1545 and rebuilt in 1702.
After the original indigenous buildings in the Mayan area withered after wind and rain, the buildings mainly including churches occupied a prominent position.
Religion, mainly Catholicism, occupies an important position in the lives of local people.
Exit the church gate, turn left, walk forward, and walk to the edge of the church. There is a relatively lively street corner. There is a very unique restaurant at the opposite corner of the street corner. If you have time, it's worth a visit.
The surrounding area feels like a mixture of Spanish architectural style and tourist interest.
Of course, like other parts of this land, before the Spanish came, this was mainly an area of Mayan activity.
In fact, it is not far from Chichen Itza. It is said that the church was once a place for the Mayan Zaci tribe to perform rituals a long time ago.”
