The location is fantastic! Our room had a view of the church, and it's just a 10-minute walk to the cathedral. It's even more convenient if you're traveling by train, as the station is only a 3-minute walk away. The breakfast is a Western-style quick meal, with a limited selection. I really enjoyed the grilled mushrooms, and the cereal bowls were delicious too. The room and bathroom were a bit small, and you'll need to bring your own toothbrush and slippers.

Perfectly adequate. Friendly staff. I didn’t use the bar or restaurant. I was only using the hotel to sleep in but would recommend it. Although, obviously it is an older hotel (which is part of its charm) so they have to battle with old fittings etc

The hotel location is excellent. It's a 3-5 minute walk from the train station, and right next to the city walls – you can even see them from your room window! York Minster and Shambles are only about a 5-6 minute walk away. The staff are really friendly, and the facilities are quite new. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, which is a great design. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit.

The hotel is in an excellent location. 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Parking is provided with a car park underneath the hotel. A discount is given out by reception if you are staying in the hotel. On check in we were offered an upgraded room which was excellent. Very spacious with everything you need for a comfortable overnight stay. All the facilities in the room worked very well. Toiletries are provided in the bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities are excellent. We were staying on room only basis so cannot comment on the breakfast. Check in was very good and all the staff were very helpful and polite. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be happy to use again when visiting Harrogate.

The hotel's location is quite convenient. After exiting York station, you just walk around the city walls, and you'll be there in about ten minutes. The room generally felt quite new and very quiet, making for a comfortable stay. York isn't very big to begin with, so all the main attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. Although the breakfast selection wasn't extensive, it was definitely enough to fill you up. 👍

The hotel is good, situated in a nice place (for drivers), parking is free. Room was of a good size, very clean and quiet. Water pressure and temperature were amazing, enjoyed our showers. Good to have a breakfast included as well. Hotel is clean and looks recently renovated. Floors are solid. Huge and good towels, a lot of light in the room. Heating was on when it got colder. Staff were very friendly and nice. Parking was full because of the bank holiday, had to stay far on an overflow parking, good that they have it. Warning about 160 fee for running hot water with the steam was honestly scary and inappropriate. Bed was just double, small for us. We were only able to sleep on our sides (my husband is big, I am average). Breakfast was tasty, but basic. Coffee (you choose tea or coffee) in a pot was too much for 1 person and not tasty at all. No fresh vegetables or/and vegetables, no sliced cheese, no pastry.

The room was quite small and the air conditioning wasn't very effective. There was an electric kettle, but no dental kit. The breakfast buffet in the morning was good. There are supermarkets, small restaurants, and bars very close by, just a short walk away.

We had the most gorgeous stay at No.1 Guest House - if there wasn’t so much to see and do in York we would have happily just stayed in and enjoyed the hotel all weekend. The staff were amazing, especially Ellie, who made us feel so welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. We loved just sitting in the bar area with a cocktail (the rosy margarita was amazing) and looking at all the art and the cute steam train. The hotel is sooo cosy and perfect for this time of year. We will definitely be back!

Breakfast was okay, not a huge variety. The bedding and towels were clean. However, the room's floor felt slanted to one side, and even the bed frame and mattress were tilted. Since I was staying alone for just two days, I was too tired and lazy to bother switching rooms.

NNadlouStayed a few times at the Grand Hotel Scarborough, it is situated within a few minutes walk to the town for the shops and eateries also a 5 min walk from the train station. The seafront, beach, arcades etc is either a tram ride away, a walk down steps or a stroll down through the town. Our room was a double, but was 2 singles beds pushed together, the mattresses were very hard and uncomfortable, only one pillow each, we could've requested more from reception but normally these are usually found in wardrobe or on shelving in other hotels. The view was OK overlooking the carpark to the front. There was a small fridge which was on the floor by the dresser, very odd not on a surface like on drawers. A hairdryer, flat screen tv with no ITV, ironing board, kettle, cups coffee tea, bath towels etc were provided . The Bathroom was a bit odd with the shower screen attached past the safety grab rail so water splashed onto the floor, the toilet was also slanted towards the bath. Room was warm enough, a fan was in the wardrobe as no aircon but didnt use it, we had frequent visits from the local seagulls on our windowsill. This hotel is OK, it's very dated with brown furnishings and the rooms/ skirting boards need a deep clean and refreshing. Cannot comment on food, entertainment or bar as we didn't partake in these.

GGuest UserPerfect location for a sightseeing trip to York, with car parking. The hotel was gorgeous, beautiful room (we had blenheim suite), huge copper bath in the bedroom (bring your own bubble bath!), super comfy bed, beautifully decorated room. Reception staff lovely and very knowledgeable of local area. Lovely bar too with friendly staff, a range of boardgames available which was fun. Breakfast room had a great Churchill theme ( brilliant top/bowler hat lighting). Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a really lovely stay.

TTuya22We had a small issue with the twin bed upon arrival, but the front desk staff resolved it quickly and was very kind. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The sea view during breakfast was beautiful and made the morning especially enjoyable.

GGuest UserStayed one night because of the marathon the next day. The staffs were friendly and procedures like Checkin are convenient. Great location, close to the station and hotel. However, the inability of the air conditioner to heat up made the room less comfortable. But I stillI had a good rest here and set a PB in the race the next day, so it was a good stay overall.

GGuest UserI stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton York for a short visit and, while the location was reasonably convenient, the overall experience fell short of expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel. I was upgraded to a room located across the car park from the main building, accessed via stairs and without central heating. Instead, the room relied on standing portable heaters, which wasn’t ideal — especially given the wet weather and the need to walk outside to reach the room. The room itself felt quite tired and dated, with noticeably creaky floorboards both inside the room and from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to fully relax. The location is decent enough, but if you’re travelling by public transport there are better areas of York to stay in that offer easier access and a nicer overall setting. I didn’t try the breakfast, as there are plenty of good local options nearby, which I enjoyed instead, so I don’t feel I missed out. One small disappointment was that coffee wasn’t available outside of breakfast hours. Overall, with so many good accommodation options in York, I’m not likely to stay here again.

GGuest UserGreat value room in a lovely rural location, reasonably close to York. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. I had a good quiet night’s sleep. Evening meal in the restaurant was fine, but a bit overpriced for what it was and service in the restaurant was friendly but slow. I would definitely stay again though if I was in the area.

GGuest UserBooked to attend an exam nearby (5 min walk). Room nice and big, had everything we needed. Check in check out quick and easy, parking £8 for 24 hours. I asked for a quiet room but definitely was not quiet there was a private function going on with very loud music which didn’t with being prepared and well rested for an early morning exam on Saturday.
