What international travel is really like in 2022
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been counting down the days where you could travel overseas again. And although that day came last year, I can admit there has been lingering anxiety about travelling. Between entry requirements, COVID testing, quarantine and any other measures, the whole process was overwhelming. Whether it was the universe sending me a message or by pure coincidence, I was invited to a business conference in Qatar. Feeling too embarrassed to decline the opportunity, I thought it was the perfect time to overcome my fear of travelling during the pandemic. Where did I start?

With Australian international borders now open to the world and no quarantine on return to Australia, it's time to go on that overseas trip! Australian citizens and permanent residents must have proof of vaccination to exit Australia. You can get your International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (ICVC) from the MyGov portal. You will also need to present your proof of vaccination when you check-in for your flight to or from Australia. Here is a list of destinations that are open for Australians to visit.

Qantas will fly to Singapore, London and Los Angeles with daily flights, and Jetstar will taking off to Vancouver, Tokyo, Fiji and Honolulu. So with that good news the big decision looms... where will be your first overseas trip once borders open?! We've captured the "must-visit" reasons of each destination for you!

Hunter Valley Staycation at the Chateau Elan
I am a frequent visitor to the Hunter, and I know a convenient and a satisfying staycation in the Hunter Valley comes down to the location of your accommodation. With this in mind, I stayed at Chateau Elan The Vintage Golf Course in Pokolbin (A.k.a the centre of the Hunter Valley). We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment at Chateau Elan, it was fitted out with a full kitchen, fireplace and spa overlooking the lush green golf course. When it comes to convenience, breakfast is only a short and enjoyable walk across the picturesque gold course. Set overlooking the 18th green, we knew we were in for a treat!

Couch Culture: 5 Paris Museum Virtual Tours From Your Loungeroom
Since France went into lockdown, many of the museums and historical sites in Paris have opened their doors virtually in the form of online streams for the general public, including those outside of France. This means that even while you're in lockdown there's no excuse to feel like the only culture you're getting is the kind you see in Tik Tok videos. The City of Light is a global centre of art, fashion and culture waiting to be discovered while you sit in your pjs. Come wander the Louvre in search of masterworks from Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Delacroix, amongst others. Climb the stairs at Basilica of the Sacred Heart, gaze upon the city stretched out before you and while you're at it you may as well frequent the same cafes once haunted by Sartre and Foucault.
