The hotel is quite large, and parking is convenient, right in the courtyard, no reservations required. The room was clean, but the soundproofing was poor, and walking upstairs disturbed my sleep. The front desk service was also poor. I accidentally dropped my charger at the hotel. When I asked, she said she could ship it to me, but I would need to pay for labor, packaging, and shipping. I was fine with that, but she asked for my credit card number first and didn't tell me the total amount, saying they would charge the money when I needed it.
Yes, I was able to check in early, which was really helpful. The room was spotless, and there were tea, coffee, and even a biscuit — very impressed. I went to the gym, which was well equipped, even with dumbbells up to 20kg and a bench. The swimming pool and sauna were perfect after my session, and the showers were great quality and very clean. They even had a spinner to dry swimwear.
I went for a meal in the restaurant — 10 out of 10. Amazing selection and served straight away. I will definitely be back; for the price, it’s hard to beat. Incredible location as well.
Enjoyed my stay. Was disappointed that even with an elevator you still need to negotiate some stairs with luggage. The beds were a little uncomfortable. It is a beautiful location and the food was absolutely fabulous probably the best I had in Scotland. I would recommend this hotel just be conscious that you will still have some stairs to negotiate with luggage.
Hotel lovely. Clean and tidy. Bar staff very friendly.
Fantastic view of harbour
Room, towels from previous guest still on floor, cups not washed, bin not emptied, missing towels. However slept well. Would come back. Thank you
Not a golfer but chose this place because of the star rating. Takes about 20 minutes to walk into city centre. First room looked over noisy air conditioning units so I was offered two others on a lower floor. Got a peaceful night's sleep with room overlooking car park. Furniture and bathroom door looks like it could do with a lick of paint. Refreshments a little subpar for a luxury hotel. Everywhere else I've stayed had a coffee pod machine. Staff booked an airport taxi for us but forgot the wakeup call. Despite this, I'd say service is quite good.
The facilities were all that we expected and needed. The food was excellent (the roast beef was cooked properly and not raw, as it is in some establishments). The staff were also excellent - very polite and helpful. They also tended to say 'You're welcome' - not the much too common 'No problem'. That was lovely to hear and made us actually feel welcome!
The hotel is looking and feeling very tired and dated and in serious need of upgrading. They’re charging 2025 prices for 1980 standard services. They clearly cater for bus tours and large parties which are not there to appreciate where they are and their surroundings. There was serious problem with running hot water in the room as well as in the showers in the spa. I overheard many guests complaining about no hot water in their rooms at reception.
Breakfast was very disappointing, they offer a continental selection of one type of cold meat and one type of sliced cheese with pan loaf bread! Fort William boasts artisan bakery’s so no excuse there. During breakfast very loud 80s movie themed music is blaring, the dining room is so big there’s practically a speaker above every second table. When asked to turn it down we were met with a standard reply, “I was just asked to turn it up”. Totally unbelievable. Due to the large parties tables are not cleared fast enough nor cleaned, we had to clean and set our own table before we could eat and this is where we were directed to sit. Waiting staff are clearly not trained nor directed appropriately for a hotel boasting a high standard. We were not encouraged to dine in the hotel at all.
The exterior of the building is not only showing signs of disrepair but is also very dirty. They are missing the B in the main signage and is the first thing you see on arrival.
Positives: the room was clean although all views from most rooms do not look out onto anything nice. Temperature of the pool, steam room and jacuzzi excellent. The lounge bar appeared to have the best atmosphere and felt like a highland hotel.

Royal highland hotel is well located and they are just nest the mall. The hotel is well kept and room is well maintained. Areas are surrounding by restaurants and pub. The only cons is that car parking lots is limited and it first come first serve basic. Min walk to castle and major attractions

GGuest UserWe were supposed to stay a night on the 3rd, however due to total disaster with the snow (police closing roads, snow gates shut, buses not running, train cancelled last minute) we were unable to travel and had to cancel the onwards travel plans. We explained the situation providing evidence that it was not possible for us to get anywhere and kindly asked if possible to amend to another date, but were refused.
Stayed in the hotel before, not a bad place, but very disappointed that they had not been more understanding of our already disrupted start of the 2026.

DDONGSHENGLocation is in the center of the city, it is very convenient to walk to the Castle Church shopping street, and three cars can be parked in the main hall. Breakfast is very good, Ctrip orders are not early, but the owner said that it is wrong, there should be breakfast. The warm host is very good. The downside is that the room supplies are generally graded and the bathroom is too narrow.
GGuest UserThis is a genuinely nice hotel sat right on the banks of the River Ness and a few minutes walk from the center of Inverness. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast had a good range of choices and was delicious. The staff were polite and friendly and were very happy to fuss over my small child!
GGuest UserReally great Hotel. Cheapest around as well so don’t really get when people book cheap hotels and complain that it’s not 5* 😂. Location is amazing. The Loch is beautiful. Staff are really nice. Rooms have everything you need and are quite spacious. Food is really good although a wee bit expensive but still good sized portions.
MmunirahThe hotel was easy to find, located right by the main road. The rooms were quite small, and with luggage, the space felt a bit tight. However, there was a small outdoor balcony with a table and two chairs, which provided a nice spot to sit and eat.
The rooms looked modern and recently renovated. The bathroom was well-designed, featuring sleek black tiles and gold fixtures, and the hot water worked perfectly. One of the best features of the room was the separate sink area, along with a microwave and fridge. This was especially convenient for heating up food or enjoying ready-to-eat meals from the nearby Aldi if you’re too tired to head out. The room also came with a kettle, coffee, tea, and even a chocolate wafer as a thoughtful welcome touch.
There is no reception desk at this hotel, so it’s important to have internet access as check-in is fully digital. You’ll receive your room number via email just before your arrival. Make sure to complete the online pre-check-in to confirm your stay and receive further instructions.
Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient one-night stay.
GGuest UserSuper hotel, very convenient for the airport. All the facilities you need for an effective and comfortable one night stay. Staff happily accommodated special requests, very comfortable beds, small fridge, good shower. All round good stay.

UukmingThe room is clean and comfortable, but there is no air-conditioning and it can be a little hot sometimes. The temperature sense is different in different rooms, you can ask the front desk. But it's fine to live in.
