We had a very nice stay at Hotel Aryaduta. Location is very good, close to the main square and the train station, nice staff, amazing views from the room and good breakfast.
Had a very pleasant stay as the room was large, spacious, internet was easy and good, bathroom clean (except that the toilet bowl was located too close to the shower creating an unbalanced seating posture), staff very friendly and polite and rooms were cleaned promptly. However do take note that bathrobes are only available to those occupying suites, with no exceptions. Breakfast spread was acceptable and what Adimulia did well was to top up and replenish food even nearing to the end of the breakfast service.
Overall, recommended for a pleasant experience.
We stayed at JW Marriott Medan for several days to allow our elderly grandmother to rest and recover following her leg surgery. While the purpose of our visit wasn’t leisure in the usual sense, the experience highlighted what truly defines a great hotel: not just its facilities, but the service culture behind it.
From the outset, our stay involved a number of special arrangements, from shifting booking dates, providing in-room breakfast service as our grandmother couldn’t access the restaurant, and attending to several ad-hoc requests. Across every touchpoint - reservations, front desk, concierge, lobby ambassadors, housekeeping, and the restaurant team , the response was consistently attentive, flexible, and genuinely warm.
What impressed us most was not a single interaction, but the consistency across departments. It reflects a deeply embedded service culture and strong leadership, where standards of care are clearly communicated and upheld by the entire team. This is what transforms a hotel from simply offering well-maintained rooms and branded facilities into delivering a personalised guest experience marked by grace, efficiency, and empathy. Simply the best hotel in Medan!
My family and I are sincerely grateful to the entire JW Marriott Medan team for turning what could have been a difficult trip into one defined by comfort and care.

The Staff is amazing and very helpful. Stored my luggage there while I went for a jungle trek. The hotel is centrally located and it is quiet by night. The breakfast is amazing. The hotel room is big and clean. Even though I liked everything at the hotel the only room which disappointed me was the gym. The gym is very small and the equipment is not working properly. I would book my stay with the hotel again.
Everything is great for the hotel. We can see the hotel is aged but it's more than made up by the good maintenance, thus retaining it's lavishness. However there really isn't nothing interesting nearby and the road in front are way to busy for any pedestrians walking
Well received on our arrival. Registration completed in good time.
Upset with the up and down staircases from lobby to rooms. Unfriendly to old and handicapped folks.
Overall graded at 4/5.
Comfortable Stay. Near everything, shopping mall, groceries, restaurant, temple. The staff is polite and kind. If you bring your own car, the staff will help you also so dont worry. Breakfast also good not perfect but good :D
Not a bad apartment hotel, relatively inexpensive, large room-apartment, good bed, balcony, large living room. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but delivery is five points. It is located in a good area, there are a lot of useful things nearby, from ATMs, malls, to restaurants and grocery stores. The area is safe, modern, well-lit. The reception staff was helpful and helped with a taxi to the lake. Toba, although you could use the Bluebird app (Grab refused to carry it). It seems like you can't smoke, even on the balcony, but if you really want to, you can :)) The only drawback is poor sound insulation from the street, sometimes night riders disturb your sleep.
When you stay at Zoe's Paradise Waterfront Hotel in Samosir, you'll be on the beach and 13 minutes by foot from Tomb of the Sidabutar Kings. This beach hotel is 20.2 mi (32.5 km) from Lake Toba and 2.5 mi (4 km) from King Sidabutar's Tomb.

Very Good
MMaxNice hotel overall. Gym is not worth visiting, unfortunately. Breakfast was really nice with some local varieties. Water from the tap is a bit yellow/ orange. Don't know yet whether this is common in Medan.
TTrip.com local guidesIt’s a decent place with comfy beds and cooling air conditioning. But the problem is that the blower wasn’t mounted properly and is shaking like a sugar cane juice machine. Other than that no issue with the room. There is a welcome drink, to claim it you should go to a lounge on the second floor. When you get there they present you a menu and ask you to select a drink, only after you order the drink off their menu do they actually bring the welcome drink telling you that the drink you ordered is also on its way. I honestly believe it’s a gimmick or a scam. Very disappointed.
SSze KhiGood and nice hotel. Up graded free of charge. Counter staff fMas Eko very friendly and helpful, Adryan Tahar, kitchen staff at Restaurant cook up a great breakfast for 2 mornings.Overall a nice stay..room is very nice and clean.

GGuest UserWonderful upscale hotel in Dolok Sanggul clearly catering to foreign tourists. It's an impressive place visually from the outside, with a roomy, partially open-air dining/restaurant area making full use of the beautifully mild climate of the mountainous area south of Lake Toba. Breakfast is served starting at 7am and the restaurant appears to be open all day, though service stops at 10pm except for room-service beverage requests. Beverages are primarily juices, teas and coffees, though beer is also an option (Bintang). Food options are a mix of Batak/Indonesia, Chinese and Western-style. Most of the Western options were either steaks or pasta, and they were out of the steak. Unfortunately, I ended up with food poisoning later that night but I don't think it's fair to ding them for that.
The room was very comfortable. An armoire for hanging clothes as well as another hanging rack. Complimentary towel and room slippers. Television had several HBO channels as well as more local programming, perhaps 12-15 stations total to choose from.
The bathroom is definitely oriented towards tourists. Some basic toiletries like toothbrush/toothpaste. Western-style flush toilet with both toilet paper and the traditional butt-gun water hose. Shower gave good hot water although controls were very touchy. There was a hand/body soap dispenser in the shower but no bar soaps in the bathroom or shampoo. There were no signs indicating you shouldn't drink the tap water but, it's Indonesia and you should never drink the tap water if you're a tourist. Two small bottles of water were in the room along with a coffee-maker.
Definitely a great option if you're in the area.

Mmiss banzaiSecond time I have been staying in this hotel and I totally recommend it. The staff at the reception, Mr. Rio was really friendly and professional. He arranged a shuttle bus for us for a smooth transfer the next morning to the airport. The breakfast has lots of tasty choices. Also for dinner the atmosphere at the restaurant is really nice and tropical with a nice terrasse outside by the pool. That hotel is only 10min away by free shuttle bus from the airport. The rooms are spacious and clean. I totally love it.
