Had my first night stay here at Sannomiya Kobe, took an airport limo bus to Sannomiya station and it was just a 10min stroll to the hotel, my previous japan experience was from AirBNB, but this hotel stay at Sotetsu Sannomiya changed my perception!
Although I stayed for only 1 night in there, I managed to explore nearby places and even tried Kobe Beef for the first time ever!
Hotel is super clean, you can refill the toiletries as and when needed, they are just right at level 1. Check in was seemless, check out as well! There is also a laundry service, microwave and vending machine at level 2. Bedding and cleaniness is top notch!
Will highly recommend this hotel to many other travellers!
Staying 2 night in the hotel , hotel lobby my look abit dated. Rooms are spacious for Japan hotel standard. Hotel provide daily skin care and there is an ice machine on every floor. It also provide shuttle bus in every 15 min to your ne of the station. Shopping mall in 10-15 minutes walking distance we took a taxi from
The shopping mall cost 1000yen. Breakfast from the hotel are impressive .
This is my fourth time staying at this hotel. The location is super convenient; it's a quick walk from Sannomiya. It's also very close to the highway bus stop, which offers direct service to USJ, making it even more convenient than traveling from Osaka. Plus, you can easily catch the airport shuttle from here. So convenient!
This hotel, newly opened in 2023, has very new rooms. The 21-square-meter superior twin room features a shower with a separate wet and dry area. The hotel's location is extremely convenient; the elevator goes directly to the underground level, leading straight to the ticket gates for Hankyu and Hanshin lines. A short walk of a few dozen meters to the right takes you to Kobe JR Station, making it very easy to go sightseeing. The Hankyu and Hanshin stops are called 'Kosoku Kobe Station,' while the JR Kobe stop is 'JR Kobe Station.' It's only 2 or 3 stops to Sannomiya Station, the commercial center. Downstairs from the hotel, there's a large supermarket called 'Life,' and another big supermarket, 'KOHYO,' is located next to JR Kobe Station. Exploring large supermarkets is always a fun activity when traveling in Japan. The hotel service is typical Japanese standard – polite and efficient. You can contact the front desk if you need anything, but a thick duvet might not be changeable even if you ask (luckily, the AC cooling works well). Kobe is beautiful, and Kobe beef is amazing – definitely worth spending a few extra days here! 😊
I really like this hotel and usually book two 20 sq.m. rooms when traveling with my family, which I did this time too. We arrived around 10 AM, dropped off our luggage, and headed out, returning for check-in after 9 PM. A male staff member mistakenly thought we'd booked one room, but after clarifying, we were given two. Upon entering, we noticed the room type differed from what we'd reserved; we received the 16.5 sq.m. layout. The difference was in room size and amenities; the 20 sq.m. rooms have a desk, a small dining table, and two chairs. I immediately contacted the front desk, but to no avail. Then I spoke with Trip.com, who said there were no other rooms available for an exchange. While getting ready, I found hair on the bathroom wall, a strange noise when turning on the hot water tap, and a missing button on the bathrobe. I contacted Trip.com again, and they offered a points compensation. I hope Trip.com's display pages accurately reflect reality and that the hotel assigns rooms according to reservations.

A night in Awaji. Quiet small town. But with good food around. Hotel is tucked at a corner just beside the sea and you can have a cup of coffee while enjoying the view. Friendly recepts made quick check in for our rooms.
Compared to Kyoto, the Monterey in Kobe offers much better service. Sona is quite small, and lately, there's been too much of a Korean presence there. Although the hotel is a short walk from the station, it's still easy to find. There is indeed a red-light district nearby, making it a bit noisy and messy (though understandable). The room layout is reasonable, the TV supports screen mirroring, and the toiletries are generously provided, with the DHC lotion being particularly good. Don Quijote is just a short walk away, and it's very convenient to get to Sannomiya Station and Kitano Ijinkan (home to the famous 'Life Toast' and the 70-year-old coffee shop), all within walking distance. The breakfast selection is rich and delicious, with the bread being a pleasant surprise.
On a side note, you should definitely avoid the Monterey in Kyoto. Their unfriendliness towards Chinese guests is blatant, especially from the middle-aged Japanese female receptionist! She denied us available rooms unless we insisted and argued on the spot. She also reneged on a promised room type change, even rolling her eyes when a colleague confirmed it with her.🙄
Stayed on a refurbished executive floor, but the 'refurbishment' was really just a change in decor; the crucial hardware facilities, like the bathroom, were still old. The breakfast was absolutely delightful – a great variety and quite refined. I especially loved the sea bream chazuke and the hand rolls. The curry rice was also good, and they even had ice cream at breakfast, which made the kids incredibly happy!
The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Kobe's artificial island at Shimin Hiroba (Citizens' Plaza). It's incredibly convenient for the airport, and the hotel even offers a free shuttle to Sannomiya Station, which is excellent – though I only found that out on my last day, unfortunately! The surrounding scenery gives you a real sense of Japan's booming high-growth period. The hotel epitomizes Japanese service style, and the rooms are really spacious, much larger than many other Japanese hotels I've stayed in, with plenty of room for all your luggage. Breakfast was incredibly rich and varied, and the 30th-floor restaurant offers panoramic views of Kobe Port. It's a shame the weather wasn't great during my stay, but I hope to visit Kobe again on a sunny day next time!

Communication with the hotel before arriving in Japan was nearly impossible. Once you are in Japan, if you use a local phone to call the hotel, they can provide information about where they can pick you up if you are traveling by bus. Apart from that, the service and facilities were excellent. The hotel provided a mobile phone that you could use to call them for pick-up at any time and from any location in the Nijigen no Mori area. Breakfast and dinner were delicious.
This hotel is seriously the best! Kazuki San made our trip absolutely amazing. He was so helpful with everything. He is nice and talkative. His family was super friendly too, which made us feel so welcome. We loved every minute of our stay. It truly felt magical, like something out of a dream. Thanks for the gift and photos. This hotel's art gallery is seriously impressive. They've got some amazing pieces on display. And breakfast in the cafe feels great. We can't wait to come back again. Highly recommend this place to everyone!
GGuest UserWonderful stay. Ideal and central location in Kinosakionsen. Great and authentic food, wonderful staff, and rooms large enough to accommodate us and our luggage. Highly recommend the Ryokan
My best stay during my honeymoon trip to Japan. Booked this room because of the private onsen in the room. Inside there are 4 rooms but we're only 2 people 😆 Location a bit secluded, but the provide shuttle so no worries
XXiaoliaozaiciIt's really great. The service, food and rooms are very cost-effective. The Japanese service is meticulous and it has thought of everything you can think of. The kaiseki cuisine is also quite ceremonial. This is not the most expensive hotel I have stayed in in Japan, but it is definitely the most satisfactory one.
Excellent location, 3 minutes from the metro station. A landmark, a temple, is located 5 minutes away. The room was on the 11th floor with a stunning view! Spacious room, comfortable bathroom. The staff helped us solve our problem at the entrance in a short time, for which we are especially grateful. I recommend staying here.
A perfect site to eat, drink, play golf and shop in Kobe. It’s close to everything and the views of the Kobe Port are just magnificent. Most important, the hotel is well managed, the rooms are spacious and the breakfast is so richly prepared that you wouldn’t be bored even staying there for one week! Will go back.
