Compared to hotels in Tokyo and Fukuoka at the same price point, The Blossom Kumamoto offers excellent value for money!
First off, the location is incredibly convenient, right next to Kumamoto Station's exit. We used it as our base for five nights, visiting Kagoshima, Kurokawa Onsen, Mount Aso, Amakusa, and Tanushimaru Station, making our 7-day JR Pass absolutely worth it!
Secondly, it's right next to Amu Plaza, where we had many of our meals. The 6th and 7th floors have restaurant dining options, including Seireitei and wagyu beef. The first floor, near the Higo Market, offers horse sashimi, ramen, sushi, and more – super convenient.
Finally, regarding the hotel itself, the room type we booked was quite spacious and quiet, and the facilities are relatively new. The only downside is no in-room bathtub (though there's a public onsen, which can get a bit crowded). One minor annoyance is that, apart from deep cleaning days, they don't even make the bed, haha. They only empty the trash and restock supplies. However, the staff are all very nice, friendly, and professional. Overall, highly recommended.
The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. Right downstairs, you'll find a bustling shopping street brimming with drugstores, yakitori restaurants, and all sorts of snacks – truly everything you could ask for. Both Kumamoto Castle and Suizenji Garden are within easy walking distance, and it's also very close to Tsuruya Department Store. A highly recommended choice!
This hotel is super convenient! It's right by Kumamoto Station; you just turn left after exiting and you'll spot it. Perfect for travelers using JR or Shinkansen. Plus, there's an electronics store and a mall right next door.
It's a bit of a walk to Sakuramachi, about 20 minutes, but you can always hop on their streetcar.
The room size is a bit small, and the bed takes up most of the space, making it feel a little cramped.
Toothbrushes and toothpaste are in the bathroom, but other toiletries can be picked up at the front desk. If you want skincare samples, you'll need to ask the staff.
There are coin-operated washing machines on B1, and it's 500 yen for a wash and dry cycle.
The staff are all very friendly and attentive. They're always ready to help.
I'd definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Kumamoto.
The bed in the room was wobbly, which was a bit of a downside. Everything else was fine.
In Japan, you shouldn't expect too much from the service; after all, they clean everything spotlessly for you.
The rooftop bathhouse was great.
The air conditioning was powerful; it felt refreshing as soon as I entered the hotel.
You can do laundry and drying, but you'll need 100 yen coins.
The surrounding area is very convenient, with many shops and restaurants, and it's also close to shopping malls and train stations.
The location is super convenient! Although it's a tram or bus ride from Kumamoto Station, it's right at the entrance of the pedestrian street. You just cross the road from the tram stop. Sakuramachi is also very close, so you can walk to eat and shop. Many shops around stay open late. The room was generally clean and tidy, and the cleaning staff were prompt in changing towels. Plus, there's a free large public bath and a common lounge area with plenty of free drinks. My only complaint is that the pillow was too small; I wish single rooms could come with an extra pillow.
2nd time staying this hotel. What can i say? Perfect location. For those coming from Fuokuoka airport. You just need to take the airport bus straight to the sakura machi bus station, up the escalator straight to the hotel. Near to shopping street as well.
The staff is friendly and provide good service.
The bath house is normal, but can tell its age.
I feel the room is very dusty, it’s making my hand itchy and nose sneezy all the time. The bathroom is also old with water marks and mould.
I am a fan of Dormy Inn and have stayed in Dormy Inn branches at Aomori, Hachinohe, Tokyo, and Osaka before, but this Kumamoto branch has the most room for improvement.
The hotel is in walkable distance to the castle, so it is great.
A great value stay! The staff were friendly and helpful. The washing machine facilities were easy to use and managed to find an available machine most times. We stayed for 3 nights and each day bins were emptied and fresh towels given. The extra space under the bed for suitcases is a great touch and overall the room design in excellent. There were several tour groups staying during the 3 days which made it a little too busy, especially during breakfast as these guests all went at the same time. Not a great experience for more independent travelers like us, but the staff tried very hard. Overall one of the better stays we had during our Kyushu trip.
Rooms were large, walls seemed soundproof, had a public bath that operated from 530 to 9am and then from 3pm till late. Breakfast and dinner buffet had a spread, but were the same items for the two consecutive nights we stayed.
Good if you like old school charm hotel, room and service. Castle view room was a disappointment - have to stand at the side of the window to actually see the castle :(
Location was great and parking was onsite. There’s a driveway at the front of the hotel and from there, the staff guided us to their onsite parking. It’s as advertised JPY1000 per day but on day of checkout, parking is until 11.30am. After that, cheaper to park elsewhere (JPY100 for 15mins vs JPY200 for 2hrs at Kumamoto Castle).

__WeChat30485****The hotel facilities are a bit old, so if you're sensitive about hygiene, you might want to reconsider. It feels like they do a thorough cleaning, but some of the equipment is dated, and there are signs of wear and tear that can't be completely scrubbed away. Our family of three stayed here; it had three beds and a good amount of space. There's also a coin-operated laundry facility within the hotel.
The best part about this hotel is definitely the breakfast – a rich variety of options and excellent value. The location is perfect for shopping, with Shimotori Shopping Street just a 3-5 minute walk away. At the entrance of the shopping street, there's an Isomaru Suisan (a chain seafood restaurant) that serves fantastic eel rice. You can order a whole eel and add rice separately for more eel, or just get the regular eel rice bowl, which is a bit cheaper. Considering how great the breakfast is, this hotel offers really good value for money. I would personally recommend it.
GGuest UserMy recent stay at Hotel Kadoman left me thoroughly impressed. The generously sized rooms provided ample space to unwind and relax, adding an extra level of comfort to my stay. What truly stood out, however, were the culinary offerings. Both dinner and breakfast were a culinary delight, with each dish crafted to perfection and bursting with flavor. The service was equally commendable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant and memorable experience. If you're looking for a hotel that offers spacious accommodations, delicious dining options, and excellent service, look no further than Hotel Kadoman.

PPupuhewanwanThe hot spring bath isn't large, but it wasn't crowded, making the overall experience very comfortable. The restaurant on the first floor takes last orders at 11 PM, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced.
TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.
