This is my second time staying at Nagano Tokyu REI. The hotel's location is excellent, just across the street from Nagano Station, making it super convenient for catching buses to Hakuba Village and Togakushi. Dining and shopping are also within walking distance. The breakfast selection and taste are both very good, and the room size is just right.
This hotel has a really cool design. The room was small but had everything you needed, though there wasn't enough space to open two large suitcases. A pleasant surprise was their happy hour in the evening, and after 9:15 PM, they opened a 'mystery room' with free drinks and snacks – that was a lot of fun! I was lucky enough to meet a staff member who spoke Cantonese; their service was excellent and very friendly. The location is also quite good, about a 12-minute walk from the JR station.
The location is superb as its just infront of Nagano Station. Room was fine but a bit outdated but still acceptable. The local Japanese staff was really friendly and helpful but the Indian/Bangladeshi guy who was at the receptionist was cocky. We asked whats the nearby attraction places we could go while waiting for the check-in time (because he did not allow early check-in, which still understandable) but he simply said, ‘you can go to the infomation counter at Nagano station’ Bruh???? What’s wrong with you? Who hurt you, brother? Hence, i cant really appreciate his service, but the older Japanese guy was really friendly and tried to help even he was not really fluent in English but i still appreciate his effort. Oh btw, there is no free parking for guests. You will need to park it somewhere else nearby the hotel.
Connected directly to Nagano JR Station's second floor via a walkway, this hotel is incredibly convenient and close by. The views from the window are also quite good. The rooms are spacious and feel quite luxurious; I'd say this hotel definitely meets a 5-star standard, and the price isn't expensive at all. Plus, the cleaning staff does a very thorough job every day.
This is our first time to ski Japan. This hotel was located perfectly with great access to some super beginning facilities. Good enough about skiing, the hotel is perfect and the staff is amazing. The food and amenities are excellent. We had a private hot spring every evening really added to the enjoyment. My wife and I and eight year-old daughter had a great time you so much for the great experience and all the hospitality Perfect Stay. 100%!!!
First of all, the two staff at the check-in counter showed a very strong sense of job burnout on their faces, and the whole check-in process was not very pleasant. However, the next morning during check-out, the ladies at the counter were very professional and everything felt fine.
After entering the room, I found it to be very stuffy and hot. When I turned on the air conditioning, it was only heating. Since the weather outside was quite cool, I understand that the system is centrally controlled and set to heating. I then tried opening the window, but it could only be opened a small amount. For some reason, no fresh air was coming in, and the room still felt very stuffy.
Later, I went down to the counter (again, the same two male staff from check-in) to ask if the air conditioning could be switched to cooling, but my request was rejected. I then asked if it was possible to borrow a fan, and they refused again with a very impatient attitude.
Overall, the stay was not a very good experience. The room itself was actually fine, but it was too stuffy. I hope this review can be helpful to others.
The hotel is right next to Nagano Station, and while it's about a 5-7 minute walk, it's not an issue. There's a convenience store directly opposite the hotel, which is essential for nightly trips to the onsen. Plus, they offer complimentary ice cream, so after a bath, enjoying some ice cream recharges you every night. It's an older hotel; you can tell its design would have been quite grand in the 90s. The room lighting is a bit dim, but the soundproofing is excellent.

Here’s a polished review you can post for Nagano Plaza Hotel:

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the team at Nagano Plaza Hotel, especially Ms. Omi Hikaru.
Despite my late check-in at around 10+ PM, she went the extra mile to warmly greet me and ensure that my room arrangement was smooth and comfortable.
What truly touched me was her thoughtful initiative after learning that I had to leave early for a day tour and needed to be at Nagano Station by 0640 hrs. She kindly prepared and packed breakfast for me in advance so that I would not miss my meal before the trip.
Such genuine hospitality, attentiveness, and dedication deserve to be highly recognised and commended. Small actions like these create unforgettable experiences for guests.
Thank you once again to Ms. Omi Hikaru and the team for the outstanding service and kindness during my stay.

Even though I checked in late, the staff was very accommodating. There was a complimentary drink service on the first floor, so I was able to get some coffee. The bathroom and toilet were a combined unit, but since I was mainly just sleeping there, it didn't bother me too much. I really appreciated having plenty of power outlets.

Amazing
LLanxin001I highly recommend this onsen hotel, ranked among the top 30 in all of Japan, to anyone visiting Matsumoto! The room views, hot springs, food, and service are all impeccable. Having stayed at many Japanese onsen hotels, this one truly offers excellent value for money.
Service: The hotel is a 20-minute drive from JR Station and provides a shuttle service. When you arrive at Matsumoto Station, you can leave your luggage at the ACE Hotel, part of the same group, freeing you up to explore. ACE then delivers your luggage to Shoho by 4 PM, which is a very thoughtful arrangement. The front desk service is warm and friendly. A gentleman named Ito helped us book a restaurant in Ise for the next day, making several calls until he finally secured a reservation, for which we are very grateful 🙏.
Ambiance: The 56-square-meter mountain-view room is spacious and comfortable, with views of a small town nestled beneath snow-capped mountains right outside the window. The sunrise and sunset are absolutely beautiful. The large public baths on both sides offer unique scenic experiences and are both worth trying, especially the snow mountain view bath, which provides expansive vistas.
Facilities: The room is very well-maintained and fully equipped. The hotel also has a souvenir shop, and complimentary drinks are available in the afternoon.
Dining: The half-board plan includes a multi-course kaiseki dinner and a buffet breakfast. The variety is extensive, the food is delicious, and it's well worth the price. If you opt not to include meals, there's a ramen restaurant in the hotel, catering to various budgets.

GGuest UserIt was a great stay. The staff was super friendly and spoke English. The had parking vallet, provided an outfit to change into and roam outside. The hot springs was super relaxing and great for the feet and body. We tried five of their private hot spring rooms out of the many more they had, some had super hot water while others were warm. The outside room hot springs were beautifully decorated. They gave us access to the 9 public onsens that had different minerals in the for body healing. At night it was even more beautiful with the night walk and the town puts on a beautiful show and night market. Super glad we booked the stay.

GGuest UserStepping inside, we were greeted by the iconic stove, and a thoughtful warm drink, which was a lovely touch. The service was very welcoming. The room, for Japan, was quite spacious and even had a balcony, though it was bare in winter. Both breakfast and dinner were extensive. Dinner, which we pre-booked, was a standout with its distinctive and delicious Western cuisine.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel located in good location, with walking distance to the city center area where you can find shops, restaurants, or even Matsumoto Castle. Parking lot provided with fees but it’s quite convenient. The most favorite from this hotel is there’re plenty of amenities – shampoo, conditioner, shower gel from a lot of brands that you can select by yourself at the lobby.
AAnonymous UserWe had a wonderful stay at the Mampei Hotel. The hotel is beautifully designed inside and out, the staff are fantastic, and the meals we had for breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner were all delicious, as were drinks at the iconic hotel bar. Highly recommended and we will definitely stay again.
Wwuzhi0603Clean and hygienic. Breakfast was just okay, good enough for one day, but on the last day, we skipped it and tried the hotel's dessert instead, which was surprisingly exquisite! The main draw is its proximity to Matsumoto Castle, and even closer to JR Station, making it very convenient for getting around, just about a five-minute walk. Plus, if you turn right out of the hotel, there's a ramen place across the street with pretty good noodles!
FFussy New YorkerI had a large tatami room with side sitting area and sink as well as an ante-room. I had three delicious Japanese meals at the ryokan that were served with polite elegance. The two in-house onsen baths were a joy to use after a day of skiing. The staff was knowledgeable about how to get around by the buses and suggested the best restaurants for days that I did not eat at the ryokan. Senshinkan Matsuya was situated in the center of.Shibu Onsen town next to three of the public onsen. I could not ask for a better stay!
