Jun 21, 2025 (UTC-6)
Calgary
Cultural Experiences
Solstice Dream Envelope Ceremony: Reconnecting Wisdom Lines Come join us for a magical afternoon at Baker Park for the Solstice Weaving Wisdom Dream Envelope Ceremony ! This unique sacred ceremony will guide you through a journey of self-discovery and manifestation. Connect with your inner wisdom , your guides and your family of light as you weave your dreams into reality. Let go of what no longer serves you and embrace new beginnings. Don't miss out on this transformative experience during the powerful energies of the Summer Solstice. See you there! The Weaving Wisdom Dream Envelope ceremony is all about restoring our wisdom lines and then weaving those connections to integrate this timeless wisdom into our lives. In these times of turbulence and uncertainty it is even more important to re-member and restore our connection to the energetic blueprint of life, the timeless wisdom of the earth, the sacred medicine of plants and animals, the wisdomkeepers and elders, and the source of wisdom in all of us. This is a gift you can give yourself and for all of humanity. The Dream Envelope is an ancient Andean ceremony that helps us align our intentions to fulfill a particular wish or to heal on a community level. It is also a powerful way for a group with common interests to build connections, to strengthen and support each other in their mission. The ceremony is designed to collectively transfer our intent and wishes into a colourful artistic creation, carried in an envelope of paper, that gets released to the Universe, much like a Tibetan Sand Painting. The ceremony is about 2 hours long and does not require any special preparation, just an open heart and clear intention. Each creation is unique and charged with the intention called to build it. Following the ceremony we will join in a potluck social. Children 18 and under are free. For questions contact Deanna 403-921-5695 or deanna@wind-haven.com . Details for attendance will be sent after registration. Proceeds and Donations will go to Don Mariano and his family in Peru in gratitude for the teachings. Don Mariano is an elder in the Q'ero community of Charkapata, a Cusco province high up in the Andes. At an early age he became a Pampmesayoq apprentice. His is recognise as a Kurak Akulleq and is an acknowledged teacher and ceremony authority. He specialises in pulse reading, working with the feminine as well as in the ceremony of Haywarikuy - "offerings to reach the earth" - also known in Spanish as Despachos. As a paqo he heals through despachos and coca leaves' readings and he is renowned for his expertise to diagnose through reading the patients pulse. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for children to interact and learn about the animals that share our world. An enthusiastic staff of instructors and friendly animals give your child an enriching experience filled with hands-on animal encounters, fun activities, and crafts. As they have fun, campers learn respect, compassion, and how to provide a lifetime of care for animals. Activities are age and developmentally appropriate. For those campers wishing to attend multiple days of camp, we have a different theme each PD day camp, ensuring diverse experiences. Campers will learn about animal characteristics, behavior, proper pet care as well as having one or two (or more!) animal interactions during the day. Pre-Registration Frequently Asked Questions When is the PD Day Camp? This camp runs on Friday June 27th f rom 9:00am-4:00pm. when the CCSD & CBE have a non-instructional day. Children will be spending limited amounts of time in the animal areas in the shelter and as much time outside as weather permits. Please note, we are NOT a peanut free facility. Camp takes place at the Calgary Humane Society – 4455 110 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta Parking information as well as drop off and pick up procedures will accompany confirmation of registration. We use both indoor classrooms and outdoor learning areas throughout our facility. How is the camp organized? Camp size is limited to 10 children and led by a specially trained educator and assistants. Children in grades 1-6 will all be placed in the same group. All children will need to bring a lunch as well as 2 light snacks and a bottle of water to camp. Children will be provided with the opportunity to eat a small snack or enjoy a drink at both mid-morning and mid-afternoon. If your child’s medical condition requires them to eat or drink at certain times please alert our camp staff prior to your child’s camp day. The Calgary Humane Society is NOT a peanut-free facility however we do request that parents avoid packing peanut products for the safety of all of our campers. Will my child spend most of the day working directly with animals? Everything we do at camp is aimed at teaching children about animal care, handling, and welfare. We strive to give our campers an opportunity to interact with several animals each day. However, we are an open-admissions animal shelter which cares for all animals including some that may be sick, injured, and sometimes aggressive. Our ability to have kids interact with animals relies entirely on the types of animals who are in residence during the camp. Our two top priorities are to provide our campers with a safe experience and to prevent our resident animals from any undue stress. Some animals simply cannot handle the attention of a large group of children at a time, and we endeavor to teach the children to respect the needs of each individual animal. That being said, when a gentle bunny, kid-loving dog, or playful bunch of kittens comes through the shelter, the camp kids are definitely given the opportunity to interact with them. Please note: Activities are age specific. Animal interaction is dependent upon animal health on a day-to-day basis. We cannot guarantee specified types or amount of animal visits.
