Amazing
CCookEmI recently stayed at Abode Belconnen and honestly couldn’t fault a single thing – it was a perfect 10/10 experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed, not just as guests but as pet parents. Finding a truly dog-friendly hotel that still feels modern, clean, and a little bit luxurious is so rare, but Abode nails it.
The room was spotless and beautifully designed with a calm, contemporary vibe. It didn’t have that “pet room” feel that some places have – everything looked and smelled fresh. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the linens were crisp and felt super comfortable and high class.
What really impressed me was how easy they made travelling with my dog. They provided everything we needed, and had a dog toilet area on level 5 (Sunset photo i posted). Staff were helpful and never once made me feel like traveling with a dog was a burden. The location is also super convenient with shops, restaurants, and even a Woolies just downstairs, plus secure parking. It’s one of the few hotels I’ve stayed at that manages to feel both practical and stylish.
If you’re looking for a dog-friendly place in Canberra that still feels like a quality stay, Abode Belconnen is honestly unbeatable. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend
DDGB365Canberra is a verdant landscaped city. While public transport is somewhat limited its small size and excellent walking pathways offer 5-10 minute walks to reach most major amenities or local shops and services. Hotel Realm is in the very central Barton district and a healthy walk to most major sites and museums, galleries and houses of parliament. Overall a good choice for both business and tourists.
QQingchunfangfoyinwoainikaishiHaha, this hotel definitely requires a bit of an adventurous spirit to stay at! It was built in 1926, so it's celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. In the lobby restaurant, there's a very old manual plug-in switchboard. The hotel's past life probably wasn't as a hotel; it gives off more of a government archives vibe 😂. The room facilities are a bit dated, especially the carpet, but there's a certain echo of the 1950s. The bathroom is quite small, and the shower area, in particular, seems like it would be a squeeze for anyone a bit larger. Canberra gets really cold, so it was a thoughtful touch that the hotel provided extra blankets. Overall, I think you need to have a bit of a nostalgic appreciation to truly enjoy this kind of hotel. The service, however, was quite good.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located to the north west of the city centre. Though it is a bit far from the city it is quite convenient, there’s a supermarket (woolies) nearby. Parking is difficult but they provide parking for extra fee per night with unlimited in and out. The hotel is clean, quiet, comfortable and sufficient for our travel purpose to attend an event nearby. I like the double beds (two separate beds) option but this type of room only comes with a disable-friendly bathroom. I wish their double beds are bigger in size and they have a regular bathroom option with a bathtub.
SSydneysiderIt was awesome. They have free mini bar and a tiny pack of nuts. And people are nice there and a lot of food nearby. It’s also Marriott’s group. Quality guaranteed.

Very Good
AakbonieThis hotel is super convenient! A shopping center called Maunka Terrace is just a 3-minute drive away, and it has Coles, Subway, and McDonald's. There were also Japanese, Italian, pub food, and other Asian restaurants in that area.
Parking usually costs $25 per night for guests, but thanks to a Trip.com perk, I only paid $10 a night, which was great! You can't reserve parking, but there was plenty of space, so I had no issues.
The breakfast menu was pretty much the same every day, which was a bit disappointing, but there was still a good variety and plenty of food.
MMo WenThe overall experience at this hotel was quite good. The room size was decent, not cramped at all, and the facilities within the room were complete. The hotel's location felt both safe and quiet, ensuring a good night's sleep. The front desk staff were friendly and enthusiastic, always smiling when assisting with check-in or answering questions, which made me feel very welcome.
GGuest UserGood hotel with decent amenities and an excellent location, but the staff experience was extremely disappointing. We were travelling with a young child and requested a late checkout. They informed us it would be $30 to extend beyond 10 AM, so we agreed. We checked out at 11:45 AM, only to find they had charged $60, which felt unreasonable and misleading.
On top of that, housekeeping knocked 3-4 times, and their behaviour was shockingly rude. One staff member even said, “You have 2 minutes, just get out in 2 minutes,” which was completely unprofessional. I’ve stayed in many hotels and have never encountered staff speaking or behaving like this.
0/5 for staff behaviour.
If you care about service, I strongly recommend choosing a more reputable hotel. If you’re on a tight budget and only want to stay near Parliament and don’t mind compromising on service, then this place might work - but be prepared for poor staff interactions.
GGuest UserWe can hear people next door talking as we were arranged to stay at a connecting room. The door crack is so wide that we can hear people next door talking which gives a sense of insecurity. It is suggested that the door crack should be fixed, for the privacy of people staying at the two rooms who do not know each other.
