Milaian Hotel (Dazhongsi Subway Station Branch Zhongguancun Beijing)

I enjoyed my stay, staff are helpful, clean beds, soap and bath gems are available to use for free

The bed was clean, and the male receptionist was helpful when I needed assistance. However, cleaning is definitely not considered a priority, I was surprised my bed was clean. No bin is even provided in the "social" area, so rubbish was always left on the tables. I also doubt the toilets/showers are ever properly cleaned. There were only 3 showers, plus maybe 2 separate ones for women, for at least 20 rooms. Even though it was given straight away, I had to ask for toilet paper, wifi password, and locker password, as none of this was provided during check-in. The location isn't fantastic. You need to walk at least 15 minutes to get to the nearest metro station. The building is also being renovated, so there's a lot of construction out the front. It's probably one of the worst hostels I've stayed at, but that's what you get for trying to find budget accommodation, I guess.

Staff was very kind. Though not speaking any english. We were checked-in in a different (private) room than we had booked. Staff offered us a discount and a bowl of fruits for the inconvenience. After three months of traveling through middle-east and central Asia, this hostel was the dirtiest we’ve seen. The kitchen (next to our room) was appalling. The shared bathroom smelled like the public ones in the city. When confronted to these problems the staff indicated that their cleaning lady is on leave and that the very sweet elderly woman present had to deal with everything (which was definitively too much). No effort was made to improve the situation during our stay. Overall the hostel pictures on this app are very dated. It appears that high prices and low standards are a general issue in Beijing.
