Amora Hotel Brisbane

This hotel has been recently renovated, so it's very new. Although the rooms aren't large, they are well-equipped, and I'm satisfied with the facilities. The hotel's location isn't far from City Hall, Queen Street, and South Bank; you can walk there easily. Choosing different routes allows you to pass by various attractions like Anzac Square and different churches. I don't think the location is remote at all. The hotel's main entrance is on a slope, and honestly, whether driving or walking, that area can be a bit confusing. If you're calling a taxi, I recommend setting the location to the hotel's back entrance (there's no actual door, it's where the breakfast restaurant is, keyword: Two Donkeys), as the road is much easier to navigate there. As for the hotel breakfast, well, it's filling, but it feels like Western breakfast prepared by an Asian chef, so it's not very authentic. Overall, it offers good value for money, and I still recommend it.

The hotel facilities are excellent, and the pool and gym are well-maintained. The breakfast selection is rich, and the ingredients are fresh. Both check-in and check-out processes were efficient and smooth. The overall environment is quiet and comfortable, making it perfect for both business trips and leisure travel.

The lobby smells lovely, and the hotel is very clean. However, the facilities are a bit dated. It's very close to Story Bridge, making its location a real asset. It's suitable for a 2-night stay, but not ideal for an extended visit. Also, the soundproofing in each room is quite poor; I could hear the foreigners next door having a meeting at 6:30 AM (they're certainly hardworking and ambitious, I'll give them that...).

The location is pretty good; it's within walking distance to the Central Station, although the uphill walk might be a bit tiring with heavy luggage. The front desk service was excellent, and the Hong Kong gentleman who helped us made communication very smooth. We stayed in an accessible twin room, which was quite spacious, but the showerhead in the bathroom was old and had tape wrapped around a damaged connection. Since we had an early flight the next morning and couldn't make breakfast, the front desk kindly provided us with packed milk and cereal. Overall, it offers good value for money!

My Worst Experience at a W Hotel to Date I have stayed at various W properties, but my recent one-night stay at W Brisbane was easily my most disappointing experience with the brand. For a hotel that prides itself on design and luxury, the functional execution of the room was severely lacking. There were several significant issues that made for a very uncomfortable night: Poor Room Design: The air conditioning is positioned in a way that it blew directly onto my face all night. It was impossible to deflect, and I had to sleep on the other end of the bed. Then I had another issue below. Disruptive Noise: The in-room refrigerator was close the the bed and making distracting noises throughout the night that made it difficult to sleep. Between the mechanical noise and the poorly placed AC, I barely got any rest. Maintenance & Cleanliness: after I woke up in the morning, I was shocked to find a visible hole in the bed sheets. This is not the level of quality control one expects from a five-star establishment. And the bath tub has visible torn and wears. Also the motel level toothbrush. Service: there was no staff at the door helped me and my 70 yo mom with our luggages. I hvae to acknowledge that we arrived quite late but I did expect quality service from a lux hotel. And also no free upgrade offered like my stays with other W. Honestly, I am just glad my stay was only for one night. I expected much better from the W brand and won't be rushing back to this particular location.

This hostel has a great location, but I had a truly disappointing experience. What happened was that groceries I had bought were thrown away. They usually store items in the fridge on the first floor before discarding them, but when I asked at the reception, the staff member acted annoyed, saying they didn't know anything, and didn't apologize at all for throwing away my food without permission. Additionally, there's no freezer, so if you're planning to stay here next time, it might be good to keep in mind that you can't store frozen food, your groceries might be thrown away without your permission, and you might not receive an apology. Furthermore, the toilets at this hostel were clearly not cleaned and smelled terrible from the start. I also had an experience where the curtain on my own bed was opened without my permission, which was not a good experience. If you're paying the same amount to stay in the city, you might be more satisfied elsewhere. Of course, not everyone will have the same experience; there are friendly and polite reception staff members. However, my experience is also a fact.

The highlight of our stay was definitely the front desk staff. They were so welcoming and friendly, and they even allowed us to check in early, which we really appreciated. The luggage storage service was also very helpful and convenient. The location is excellent, making it incredibly easy to get around the city. However, the room itself could use some improvement. The cleaning wasn't up to standard as there was quite a lot of dust in the room. Also, the water pressure in the bathroom sink was very weak. Overall, it is a convenient place to stay with fantastic service, but they really need to improve their room maintenance and cleanliness.

This accommodation was in a spectacularly convenient location for a GIG that I was attending this week. The Team on-site were incredibly helpful. I had a small issue when I got there with the fridge not working and it had tripped the breaker; the maintenance guy came and sorted it out and then replaced the mini fridge thing for me as well. All within 30 minutes. Amazing. He also offered tips to assist with making the most out of the aircon and the double-glazing which was also super helpful so I could get a good nights sleep afterward. The place was nice & clean and tidy with an exceptionally large sized bed. It was surprisingly quiet being right beside an active pub as well. Unless I was in the hallway, I couldn't hear a thing. I could hear my neighbours though...! Beautiful artwork through the building, and the hallways didn't smell awful either. They had cool little work nooks in the stairwells you could use if you wish and I think I saw some business suites on the 1st floor you could use for meetings. Not so amazing parts: There was clearly mould in some areas in bathroom areas.. they oddly have glass doors on the toilets?? that's strange. No ventilation in the bathroom to prevent the mould too. The air-conditioning was genuinely effective but it was clearly not well maintained as there was dust & mould forming around the vent and the roof section where the duct was, had starting bowing. Booking process via Trip.com - not great. The information provided by the website indicated they'd hold the amount of the booking but we had to pay the amount AT the hotel plus a deposit fee for incidentals...(on top of the amount they already took). That was actually not the case... I didn't have to give them anything at all except ID and verify my general details. When I got there, the nice man at reception told me I was all good to go and no extra fees or holds were required. All in all, a good stay. The place could use some extra love and attention to detail but for the price I paid? I'm not bothered.

This hotel is a great option in Brisbane's city center, offering excellent value for money! It's a shame they're currently undergoing renovations, but I'm sure it will be even better afterward. Most of the staff are South American, and their warm hospitality provides a different and pleasant experience! Definitely worth trying.
