This stunning Inn which appears to have been operational since 1360, is located in the picture postcard village of Coleford, near Crediton. The village is like going back in time at least a couple of hundred years. But our room was tastefully renovated to a similar standard as a modern city hotel, without being soulless. Our cosy and clean bedroom was twinned with a modern and immaculate en-suite bathroom. We enjoyed a very comfortable and uninterrupted night’s rest. The owner is jovial and super friendly and couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable.

Stopped by for a drink and a light lunch and so pleased we did. The landlord (who lived local to us forty years ago!) went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. The Utopia Ale was beautifully kept, the lunch was excellent and Captain the parrot kept us company the rest of the time. The New Inn is a lovely old English pub in a beautiful spot, it even has rooms, which we 2ill definitely be t4ying in the future.

My wife and myself stayed for three nights from the 31st of May. We were given a really lovely and big room, comfy bed and modern big bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and Mark and Theresa were kind and looked after us well. We will go there again, I highly recommend staying here. Thanks, Jonathan and Toni.

Another wonderful stay at The New Inn. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had everything we needed. We received a warm welcome and spent a lovely evening in the bar with Mark, Teresa and some friendly locals. Breakfast was delicious; freshly cooked with local ingredients. This is one of our favourite places to stay and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Back again for a couple of nights while visiting family. This really is a perfect pub B&B. We arrived early and as usual our room key was left on a board for us, but we got a very warm welcome when we returned later after the bar had opened for the evening. The room was spotless and well furnished and we enjoyed 2 very good nights' sleep. Breakfast is of a very high standard and delicious - choice of full English, kippers or eggs Benedict/Florentine plus vegan option, all cooked using local ingredients. There is a good range of local beers and ciders and other drinks all presided over by Captain, the pub's loquacious parrot!. Our experience is completely at odds with the previous reviews. Mark and Theresa are welcoming, full of friendly advice and run an excellent country village pub with great food. We've never found anything to complain about, keep coming back and hopefully will do so again this year.

I didn’t want to leave a poor review as I am normally a positive upbeat person but after having read a recent review feel I should add my observations. On arrival the owner locked the bar door as we approached, he must have seen us? We then went through a side entrance and he appeared, not looking particularly friendly and he told us where our room was. As the bar had just shut we asked what time it would be back open and his response was ‘as per the email’. There was no greeting, no how are you or how was your journey? We ate in the bar that evening and found the Barman to be very pleasant and jovial. The food was at best average, the chips were really overcooked. The owner appeared in the bar when we were eating and sat with a local, again he had no interest in interacting with us. The room was basic but clean and the breakfast was reasonable, the lady serving us was friendlier but again no interaction from the owner. There was no goodbye or thank you, or hope to see you again. Sad and disappointed to be honest as we’ve known this pub for a long time. The outside looked tired and scruffy and the garden needs an overhaul.

This was our second stay and third visit to the New Inn - and we'll most certainly be back again because we love the place! The hosts are fantastic and make you feel so welcome, their home-cooked food is just amazing (and extremely generous portions!), and the beds are just so comfortable that we get the best night's sleep. The location is perfect as it's so quiet and quaint - although Devon Council should really support their local businesses by mending the excessive potholes in the approach roads!! All in all, this place is to be thoroughly recommended and it's certainly very reasonably priced for the quality of stay.
